Flippin' Fabulous- A Reader's Record
Not So Fab (2). Not For Me (1). Whatcha Think About Wed. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. When Book Quotes Meet Reality. I've had a bad weekend to say the least. I've experienced my first funeral as an adult and as a parent. It was of a seven week old baby (not mine.) It is heart breaking - my heart still hurts for so many reasons including the fact that the father of the baby referenced my son during the funeral. Friday, February 22, 2013. The Light Between Oceans. Mixed emotions make me hesitate to write about The Light Between Oceans. I liked it. I really did. But I also disliked it. Monday, September 19, 2011. 8220;Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs. Jacob Portman grew up listening to his grandfather’s stories of the orphanage he grew up in where the children had unique abilities and everyone was haunted by mysterious monsters. He even had the pictures to prove it. The cover of this book sold me with its dark, haunting picture that doesn’t give up all of its secrets at first glance. The description pulled me in further with the promise of a story ...I was a...

A Readers Rumination
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Policy for the People. The values of liberty, equality, and social justice (fraternite) are realized in two ways of understanding equality-as both liberty of the individual to pursue opportunity, and provision of a level playing field. Also embedded in this intertwined credo is the principle of the social body of which each individual is a part and outside of which no individual can survive.". Janet Giele, Family Policy and the American Safety Net. I've seen it be driven by the m...
