Thursday, July 17, 2014. What I Would Tell Myself. I turn forty on my next birthday. It's still a little ways off, but it got me thinking. I started this adoption journey when I was thirty. Has it really been ten years? Yes, it has. I was thirty when I took my first class, thirty-one when Hannah moved in. These ten years have been an adventure. A wonderful, terrible, awesome adventure. I didn't actually know much. Still don't. 1 Not every battle needs to be fought today. 2 Don't take everything personally.

We are a family of four (now five! Built by adoption and grateful for every minute together. It's not been an easy journey, but each struggle, tear and obstacle has made us closer, stronger and more dependent on one another and most importantly on God. Random facts about us:. We love Jesus. Whatever He says, is exactly what we want to do. It's hard to get a picture around here without someone having a crazy expression. I've taught middle school for nine years. It's been an adventure. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. This Is Why We Do What We Do. I didn't know what they were talking about. Ashley and the new one were sitting on the front porch. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit and chat. Amy was riding her bicycle in the driveway. Hannah was helping me make supper. This day was no different than any other. Until she came running into the kitchen. Flushed face. Racing words. I don't want to paint a picture that isn't realistic, but I do want to emphasize that those not-so-pretty parts are usually temporary. For example, sometimes there is a lot of screaming.
