Friday, January 11, 2002. We solved the 500 miles from Longreach to Mackay without any damages and are now back at the east coast. It is even hotter here than in the Outback. This is no fun anymore. The beach has been closed 2 days ago because of the poisonous box jellyfish. So we had to be content with the hotel's pool. We already booked a day trip from Airlie Beach. To the Whitsunday Islands. For tomorrow including snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. More about that tomorrow. Fit for the Outback.

Sunday, January 13, 2002. Today we hit the 3500 mile mark. The sunburn has created big water-blisters on my shoulders. To get through the night somehow I will as a precaution take some medicine ( Cascade Premium Light. A tropical rain was our companion on the way to Townsville. The streets threatened to overflow because the earth around is so dry. But we were lucky, nothing happened. Tomorrow we will go to the city centre and have a look around. Wednesday, January 09, 2002. High Noon in Longreach: 39 degrees Celsius in the shadow was the hightest temperature we have had until now. It's a nice place here and for Australian conditions a big one (4419 citizens), too. We also visited the museum Stockman's Hall Of Fame. Friday, 28 January 2005. This is the final weblog entry from Australia. We have packed our luggage and are waiting to get to the airport. It is hard to believe to leave this beautiful country in a few hours. We hope to get back safely. The first days passed by very slowly, you thought the 4 weeks will not come to an end. Sunday, February 11, 2007. Sydney February 6-10, 2007. This afternoon (2/6) we arrived in Sydney and decided to have a swim in the South Pacific Ocean first before we go and see Heidi and Ralf, but when we went to Palm Beach, there were signs warning of Bluebottles. Main agenda point of 2/8 was Helga's birhtday. We spent most of the day buying food and drinks and preparations for the evening, where we celebrated her birthday with a few friends. We decided to have a final breakfast on the next morning.
