2016 Bandera 100k Race Report | A-very Fun Adventure

https://averyfunadventure.wordpress.com/2016/01/12/2016-bandera-100k-race-report

Trials and tribulations of an ultrarunner. 2016 Bandera 100k Race Report. Posted in Race Report. The Finisher’s Buckle. Sometimes you bite off more than you can chew but somehow, some way you must find a way to make it work. Some of the terrain I’d be facing. My first trail ultra. The Sotol–not a nice plant. Coming out of Chapas, it should have been my true chance to fly because of the relatively flat dirt track. I stress. I arrived at the Crossroads 1 aid station in a bad state of mind. I refilled a...

Childhood Idols as an Adult | A-very Fun Adventure

https://averyfunadventure.wordpress.com/2015/06/26/childhood-idols-as-an-adult

Trials and tribulations of an ultrarunner. Childhood Idols as an Adult. Tomorrow at 5:00 am Pacific Time, the Western States Endurance Run. As race day approaches, I have found myself glued to interviews, podcasts, blogs, and magazine articles related to this year’s event. The enthusiasm in which I find myself made me look at the connection between my passion for ultrarunning compared to baseball. Look at the profile of this race! He was a center fielder for my beloved Cincinnati Reds. Do I know enough a...

Trials and tribulations of an ultrarunner. A Day Late But Not A Dollar Short. One of my concepts with this blog, beyond sharing my experiences, is to use it as tool to keep me focused and honest with myself. I had intentions of writing a blog article exactly one month after my first race. I even thought about writing this article today and back dating it just so it had the “correct” date. But what is the purpose of doing that? Is it just to make me feel like I do everything according to plan? Address nev...

The Art of Sharing | A-very Fun Adventure

https://averyfunadventure.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/the-art-of-sharing

Trials and tribulations of an ultrarunner. The Art of Sharing. Fast forward to last Friday. After work, I prepared my house as our aid station to pass by every 20km. I had plenty of Hüma Chia Gels. Justin’s Nut Butters. Hummus, and other snacks as well as a ton of water. I had a blister kit, Trail Toes cream. Getting ready to start. 20km in the books, 40km to go. 40km done but we still have 20km to go. Sometimes you just need to lie down. Limbering up for the final part of the run. 60km in the books.

Officially Masters | A-very Fun Adventure

https://averyfunadventure.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/officially-masters

Trials and tribulations of an ultrarunner. This week I turned 40. It has been surreal, exciting, motivating, a time for reflection, and, at times, no big deal at all. For the better part of the year, when I was 39, I was already considering myself 40. I am not sure why. Maybe I was excited to be 40, maybe I just wanted to get it over, who knows? The first part of turning 40 is everyone asking how do you feel or what do you think about turning 40? Wow, I think I digressed quite a bit there. The Art of Sha...

Bridging the Gap… – erasingnormal

Bridging the Gap…. September 9, 2016. September 9, 2016. My coach posted on our team website this morning that Nick Symmonds had published his entire training journal leading up to the 2012 olympics (link here: http:/ getrungum.com/blogs/blog/nick-symmonds-2012-training-log-ebook-free-download. In case you’re interested. Looking back I feel ridiculous. When was I planning on actually dating or training or… any of it? It just didn’t work. In reality, my work wasn’t working (I didn’t ...Enter your comment ...

Ultra Milano-Sanremo Race Report 2016: From Cinderella to Olive. April 14, 2016. April 15, 2016. It was very surreal. I tried to forget about everything ahead of me and just think about the current moment. And at that moment I was running, in Italy, and things were going well. Wouldn’t think about that right now and I laughed and said I know, there’s a LONG way to go still . Then it was off running again. Before I knew it we had reached the first major city, Pavia. Miles where I asked. The coke and the T...

8220;Do you REALLY need a coach? December 12, 2016. December 12, 2016. So what is this blog post about then? But, without a doubt there is one person who I owe a large part of my success to over the last 2.5 years. That person is my coach, Dave Krupski from Zwitty Ultra Endurance Coaching , and this post is about that partnership. I mean, you know this stuff now right? The cool thing here? Form Analysis! – erasingnormal

https://erasingnormal.wordpress.com/2016/09/15/form-analysis

September 15, 2016. As most of you know, I am training for the UltraMilano-Sanremo 175 mile race in Italy next April. To run 175 miles and stay injury free, I wanted to focus this year on becoming the most efficient, least-impact runner I can be. Okay, it was also partially prompted by seeing photos of my form at the end of last year’s run (and threw in one from Donna 110 as well);. I’m on the left). At the end of UMS 175 w/Michele – I can’t tell if I’m crying or talking here). I met my super awesome res...

Running: My Crazy Relationship. April 30, 2016. April 30, 2016. I just didn’t know. I needed a break. A long break. The day after the race I smiled as I silently said goodbye to you. I could still feel you in every ache and pain of my body but I knew those would fade, and I hoped that the obsession with you would be replaced with a new hobby. I daydreamed about the fun and amazing things I would do without you stealing every waking thought of my life. Oh what freedom I would have! Ultra Milano-Sanremo Ra...
