Adventures in food, fitness and wanderlust. Two weeks in the Sub-Continent. January 6, 2014. First day back in Sydney! After 16 days of travel in India and Thailand, we touched down at Kingsford Smith early this morning after a verry long red eye. I appreciated the stopover in Singapore not only because we were ditching Jet Airways for a much bigger, nicer Qantas plane but because it was my first bite of sushi in over two weeks, I hadn’t even realized I’d missed Asian food! The wedding was an absolute bl...

Adventures in food, fitness and wanderlust. February 28, 2015. Our last meal in Japan was at Sukiyabashi. It was over one month and three countries ago but the memory of a meal we’ve been lusting after ever since we saw Jiro Dreams of Sushi. In 2011 isn’t one that fades easily from memory. Chef Jiro Ono in a still from Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Jiro Ono, now 89, has been hailed by the Japanese government as a national treasure and is the oldest chef to have received three Michelin stars. Armed with our lunch...

Adventures in food, fitness and wanderlust. 72 Hours in London. April 6, 2015. London vs. new york. I’ve recently come back from 8 days in Europe, for what will likely be one of my last work-sponsored trips for a while. The company I work at organises events in 10 cities each Spring and, this year I pulled the lucky (or short, depending on how you feel about long haul flights in economy) straw of covering London and Oslo. So off I went. Pulling in to Paddington Station. I suppose though, in some ways, Lo...

Adventures in food, fitness and wanderlust. Category Archives: Trip Reports. Sri Lanka Day 2. December 30, 2015. We packed a lot into half a day in Colombo yesterday and took a car in the afternoon to Kandy. It’s only 140km but the drive took more than three and half hours. The idea was that we spend the night in Kandy and head out this morning for a four day trek through the Knuckles Mountain Range (more on that later). Five highlights and observations:. A typical vegetarian lunch. Sri Lanka Day 1.

A Wandering Elf - A Wandering Elf
A Hobby within a Hobby. Subsequent years yielded slightly better results during my attempts making at faerie dresses and creating costumes from the Elfquest comic series. Finally, in college, I discovered the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) and that launched me onto the path of costuming and research that I still follow. I started this journal as a way to keep record of my progress and experiments. I also hopes that it serves as an outlet to strike up dialogue with those with similar interests.

one day at a time
One day at a time. This is what I'm up to. Saturday, December 22, 2012. I'm writing this from the lounge at the Central London Youth Hostel (a lovely place, by the way - would definitely recommend! There's a football match on tv (ATH vs. ZAR - side note, turns out ATH stands for Athletic Club Bilbao, which.aren't they all. Is this one team particularly MORE athletic than the rest? If so, shouldn't they have won enough games that I would have heard about them? I keep finding myself staring at hugely expen...
