Lapsus Calami: return to Narnia
http://slip-of-a-pen-mg.blogspot.com/2014/03/return-to-narnia.html
Just like that, I'm back. The world is whiter now than when I left, although today is beautifully clear and sunny. Yesterday I flew in just before the storm really established itself on one of the last flights from Washington, DC for the day. Tuesday morning began in what had become typical morning fashion. Oh those mornings where the sun was completely up by 6.30! Definitely on the count for the happy days challenge! One last picture of Recife. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lapsus Calami: February 2013
http://slip-of-a-pen-mg.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
A gift stitched, hammered, woven:. The curtains and pictures hung on my wall by my dad when I first moved in to this apartment. 3 gifts found when bent down:. A distinctive bootprint found in the snow. A photograph that has fallen to the floor. Being eye level with a younger sibling. I'm three days behind, but here is a wonderful challenge for the month of February: to find things of joy each and every day. Love - generic, but such a blessing! Pictures from my siblings drawn with love. Writing itself as ...

Screaming english major fan girls. In preparation for a class in three weeks, I have begun to read Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit. Now, as much as I adore A Tale of Two Cities. And swoon at the ending every time and enjoy my soon-to-be-annual reading of A Christmas Carol. Dickens' diction in Little Dorrit. Is phenomenal, eliciting giggles as the result of ridiculous passages. Some have Facebook, some have Twitter, I have When In Academia. And North and South. Now it is time to stretch those muscles and p...

The founders of Esther's Children came for breakfast today. Actually meeting them solidifies the reality of the project - I've seen it in action, and now I've met the mother-daughter duo who is responsible for its conception and execution. The Lord continues to work in wonderful ways. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My tongue is the pen of a skillful writer - ps. 45:1. Slowly but surely learning. View my complete profile. After months of searching, watching, waiting, and hunting, we have been blessed with a place to call home for twelve months. It is everything I hoped for (except for the carpets and the lack of closets): location, privacy, quiet, and brightness. There is even space for a piano! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Awake is the New Sleep: See the World Hanging Upside Down
http://ericaakers.blogspot.com/2011/10/see-world-hanging-upside-down.html
Awake is the New Sleep. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. See the World Hanging Upside Down. Working working, always working. I miss traveling and school, but the world is not a place where such things are free. While I can't travel too far off the beaten path, for Thanksgiving, Peter and I escaped to Belvedere - the proverbial Eden of my childhood. Going up the ski hill! We found awesome hats! 3 Girl With Curious Hair (David Foster Wallace). 2 The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (Haruki Murakami). Lynette van de Hoef.

Awake is the New Sleep: November 2010
http://ericaakers.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Awake is the New Sleep. Sunday, November 21, 2010. It was for freedom, from myself and from the land. I believe there is a reason for time-outs. Isolation and solitude can be like meditation for the soul. When you are alone in your surroundings, you are forced to connect with them and to connect with yourself. 8220;None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone.”. Enter self-understanding. When you are alone, away fr...

Awake is the New Sleep: January 2011
http://ericaakers.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Awake is the New Sleep. Friday, January 28, 2011. Do you ever feel like you are watching life instead of living life? Like you're watching a movie and yelling at the main lead "Don't go down the stairs! And they go regardless? And deep down, you knew they would). Like you can see the ending some miles away, and you know there are no plot twists or heart-felt character transformations? Like you're watching a movie made for children). Monday, January 24, 2011. I promised I would discover this year. It It's...
