Afgelopen zondagochtend stond ik, met een flinke kater, dertig cupcakes te bakken voor een traktatie, een quiche te bereiden en een stapel zalmwraps te rollen voor een picknick. Dit terwijl ik tegelijkertijd met mijn heupen –want vieze handen- de kinderen van mijn rokken probeerde te schudden. Hup, de keuken uit, mama heeft het druk, of wil je soms met lege handen naar school morgen? Een nomade in Singapore.

Tails from the Lion City. Tuesday, 26 August 2014. A fairy Cemetery - Bidadari. Bidadari meaning fairy according to Wikipedia, coming from the Sanskrit word widyadari. These fairies are reported to be kind, an angel, a nymph. In another record its also stated that the word comes from the Malay for fairy, so I'm not sure which is correct but either way "fairy" it is! 1903 - 45 acres of land were sold with plans to build a Christian cemetery. 1905 - A further 33 acres bought for a Muslim cemetery as well.

Not that unsurprisingly we were spotted easily as we were the only Westerners, not withstanding the only western women there! Tails from the Lion City. Monday, 29 June 2015. Toa Payoh Town Park. What a charming little park! Visiting here as I waited to meet a friend I was delightfully surprised with this park, situated just by the busy road, opposite the enormous bus station and next to the sport complex and swimming pool, but what an idyllic find, why had a never investigated before! The tower at Toa Payoh was completed and opened in time for the SEAP Games in September 1974 and the athletes were housed next to the garden.
