http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. Sunday, March 6, 2011. This started out as a post where I bitch about customers and turned into one where I bitch about society. SO many idiotic customers today. And I've had a LOT in the last couple of weeks. Things have been a bit topsy-turvy at work, hence the lack of posting here for AAAAGES. I think most people will know what I'm talking about. If not, I'm sorry, I can't post about it directly (MYSTERY). To spend money in ...

http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. Sunday, November 21, 2010. Overheard at the Bookshop. Some kids (maybe 18ish):. Kid 1: "Who's Malcolm X? Decision Points on the Journey to Lazarus Rising. But what really scares me is the fact that this christmas, three biographies have really jumped out ...

Bookshop Babylon: The Book List
http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/p/book-list.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. An exercise in futility. I figure that if I keep adding to the list of books to read before I die, I will live forever. A Place of Greater Safety/Hilary Mantel. I Married a Communist/Philip Roth. Day After Night/Anita Diamant. Sex, Lie...

What the hell?: Recollections of growing up - the trip to The Rom
http://iansescapevalve.blogspot.com/2014/10/recollections-of-growing-up.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Recollections of growing up - the trip to The Rom. The perils of being a skater in the 70's. Coming back to my insomnia; it was my attempt to recall a trip that I spent during one summer, maybe 1978, possibly 1979 that was keeping me awake. In our modern, paranoid, digitally connected world are we safer or more at risk than we were back in the 70's? And what of that trip? Which took the scenic route; instead of going direct it went via Kilmarnock and Dumfries. Things I look at.

Bookshop Babylon: SEDUCED I say SEDUCED
http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/2011/05/seduced-i-say-seduced.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. Friday, May 20, 2011. SEDUCED I say SEDUCED. SHOCKED to learn there is gambling going on in this establishment. Very few people will get that joke. Anyway, I am yet again apologising for being a bad blogger. I'm actually an excellent blogger, just not here. Mostly here. What with uni, two jobs and a social life (HA! In fact, for your internetting-pleasure (internet can be a verb, right? IN THE VEIN OF BEING ORGANISED. These are...

Bookshop Babylon: November 2011
http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. Sunday, November 13, 2011. Ugh Xmas is here. Let the gender essentialism begin. So at the shop of dreams, the xmas stock has started to roll in. And it's really at this time of year (and at mother's day of course) that consumerism likes to, in addition to diminishing our bank balances, remind us that all of us are supposed to be exactly the same all the time always. Oh, and what d'you mean you don't celebrate xmas? Socialist...

Bookshop Babylon: A list of some female writers I love
http://bookshopbabylon.blogspot.com/2011/06/list-of-some-female-writers-i-love.html
Being a complete and truthful record of the experiences of a bookshop worker. Saturday, June 4, 2011. A list of some female writers I love. In response to this misogynistic nonsense. And in no particular order (plus these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head). Did I mention Margaret Atwood? Oh and, I'm sorry, I think I may have forgotten Margaret Atwood. And you know what worries me, after having re-read my list? I'm pretty sure they're all white. Labels: i really love margaret atwood.
