Paul Hadfield: Do "Task Hours" add anything in Scrum (Agile)?

http://blog.paulhadfield.net/2012/12/do-task-hours-add-anything-in-scrum.html

Saturday, 1 December 2012. Do "Task Hours" add anything in Scrum (Agile)? What do task hours add to the overall process in scrum? In my current role we've been lucky to investigate this further as a team. The team sat down to discuss the problems it was experiencing with estimating tasks in hours and the following common themes appeared:. Maybe it shouldn't be, but time estimation is hard! It takes too long. Outcome of one task affects the duration of a subsequent task. It doesn't involve all the team.

Monday, 31 December 2012. Having just had the opportunity of working in a completely green field system in my last role, getting the chance to apply that knowledge in a large, deployed, business critical brownfield system seemed like a nice challenge ( I have spent much time wondering if I was mad! Paul Hadfield: Looking forward to 2013

http://blog.paulhadfield.net/2012/12/looking-forward-to-2013.html

Monday, 31 December 2012. Looking forward to 2013. Another change for 2013 will be refining our agile process. For the 2nd half of 2012. We followed a scrum methodology, successfully developing and deploying an MVC replacement for an old ASP legacy application. Feedback from the technical teams resulted in us modifying the process, removing task hour estimation. We want to keep the short and frequent feedback loops and engagement with the business. This really does include everything, we need to improve ...

Trying to simply set the clock automatically on this ‘smart managed’ network switch turned into a bit of a challenge. Whenever a time sync is attempted from the NTP server it would fail. With this static route added, our NTP request succeeds. Continue reading →. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. This entry w...

Arduino MIDI Foot-controller Project. So we’ve got a nice Hammond sloped case ordered and are awaiting it’s arrival sometime this week. With that, we’ll slap 10 heavy-duty push-button foot-switches on the top face, maybe a half-dozen 1/4″ pedal jacks on the sides and a MIDI out jack on the back. Voila! A 10-button foot-controller with inputs for additional foot pedal inputs (switch or continuous, who knows? This entry was posted in Projects. We’re working on a new, dedicated blog space, here at blog.

June 21, 2015. Made a trip to the hippie wonderland of Mount Shasta. I've always wanted to go. This is more than 10 years in the making. I've heard that the number of crystal healers per square mile up there rivals the density anywhere else on earth. I think it might be true. There's no doubt about the gravity of the mountain, whose mass and height helps water 75 percent of California's needs. Yes, you heard that right. The store sells "prana produce.". Technology, business and other musings. Dependency injection for SpecFlow with Unity 4. One of my current projects is using SpecFlow for testing some complex security logic; there are lots of scenarios so the BDD style of testing is well suited to the problem. I wanted to use the same style of testing for some integration testing where the client is talking to my API but hit a problem of how/where to construct the container as even the client library uses dependency injection to construct itself. What we...
