Paul moseyed down the bank and found the 'sweet spot'. December bass on a jig and wax worm. Paul with a nice crappie on December 27, 2014. I like crappies any time of year! Bluecollar Fishin with Jim. Friday, March 13, 2015. Best of 2014.Bass and other Beasts. It all started in January. As the warmer weather has finally arrived, the ice is melting and my recovery from back surgery is coming around. But before I get full bore into the spring crappie, bluegill and bass opps here along the Mason Dixon, let's look at the best of the beasts and bass from last years trips. Here we go. Bass on ice.that's nice! Personal best hardwater largemouth at 22 inches. Linda still has it!

Bluecollar Fishin with Jim. Wednesday, August 27, 2014. As the sun began to fall the big girls came out to play. 22-incher pushed six pounds. Cubbyhole at the tree root was home for some hawgs. Places that seem normal during the day take on a whole new light when the sun is calling it quits. Night sounds take over like the drumming of cicadas. Fish can get active, too. Nice, late evening bass took a stick worm. My son Matt with a Twilight Zone bass on a surface frog. As the sun drops, senses heighten.

Bluecollar Fishin with Jim. Tuesday, June 17, 2014. A very big fish on a very tiny bait. Lucky catch? I have always been amazed as to how a very big fish can somehow find such a tiny morsel of food so attractive as to attempt to devour it. Would the tiny morsel even replace the energy it took to consume it? I don't know. But recently, I managed to land a couple of very nice bass on 2-pound test and in environments that weren't good for the light line gig. Basically, I was lucky. Have mercy on me, O God.
