Bonnie's Books: Wednesday, I met the author
http://bonniesbooks.blogspot.com/2008/04/wednesday-i-met-author.html
Friday, April 11, 2008. Wednesday, I met the author. I'll do a "real" book review this weekend, but for now I want to tell you my exciting news. I met Masha Hamilton, author of three novels. Early in the week, I finished reading. Which was published in 2007 and came out in paperback on April 1st. Masha's book is fiction, but there really is a camel bookmobile in Kenya. During her presentation on Wednesday, Masha showed us this two-and-a-half minute video. Are reading and discussing. My blogs and pages.
Bonnie's Books: A picture-perfect tomato
http://bonniesbooks.blogspot.com/2008/07/picture-perfect-tomato.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Once upon a time in the tiny postage-stamp spot outside my apartment, I tried to make a garden. The root-bound ground, tempered over time by summer heat and winter freeze, had become impenetrable. I posted this BEFORE photo of my garden spot back in early May. Click to enlarge it, if you want to see the things I describe.) Since I couldn't dig DOWN, I decided to build UP. See the three bags of deep dark dirt I bought? So this is the saga of the tiny tomato. We bought five or...
Bonnie's Books: The Omnivore's Dilemma ~ by Michael Pollan
http://bonniesbooks.blogspot.com/2008/03/omnivores-dilemma-by-michael-pollan.html
Saturday, March 22, 2008. The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals. By Michael Pollan, 2006, nonfiction. Why did I choose to read this book? My newest book club decided to do things a bit differently, choosing a monthly theme instead of all reading the same book. For our first meeting in March we decided to read about food, and I chose this instead of a novel like. Was it a good book? Would you recommend it? What did you like about it? What a neat ...

A blog is to a writer what a canvas is to an artist. Colleen Redman. Archive for the ‘Floyd Festing’ Category. 1 “It used to be that artists never took credit for their own work. There was this thing literally called the muse.” Every once it a while it comes to visit you and it’s not up to you. At some point in history we got rid of that idea and starting taking credit. Some people […]. Every Little Kiss with a Jerry Twist. Feelin’ the Love at Floydfest. Saturday was family time! It was my first time see...

Linda's Reading Blog: June 2013
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 27, 2013. Playing Catch Up, Again. I really wanted to like this book and at first I did but the further I got into it, the less and less I enjoyed it. It's reminiscent of Stephen King's writing but the main character just isn't lovable enough for me. That's as far as I got.maybe someday I'll finish it.maybe not. So, I needed something totally different and this fit the bill. I gulped it! How could I resist a book with this title? Peter Byerly is mourning the death of his young wife by secl...

Linda's Reading Blog: May 2013
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 19, 2013. This was a quick read for the plane ride back to Maine for the summer. It made the flight zip by! Mike Scanlon is a doctor serving in Afghanistan when he gets news that his wife has died from an accidental fall in the kitchen. He returns home to try to make sense of his life. He has an eight-month old daughter to care for and questions about his wife's death and life. But, I still enjoyed the book and was happy to have it to keep me company on the plane ride. Linda's Reading Blog: The Lock Artist
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-lock-artist.html
Thursday, August 8, 2013. A friend gave me a book calendar and I can't tell you how many good books I've read that were recommended on it. This was one of them. We find out immediately that Michael is in jail, that he doesn't talk, and that something really awful happened to him when he was eight. He decides to write about his life and alternates between his early life and his life of crime. He has two gifts: he can unlock anything and he's a decent artist. He's also a decent person. To master your way.

Linda's Reading Blog: July 2013
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 19, 2013. And the Mountains Echoed. I eagerly awaited this new novel. I used to teach The Kite Runner to my World Literature students and I've always loved his writing. And the writing in this novel is good! I love how he manages to make the bleak landscape of Afghanistan sound beautiful. His love of that country shines through. It was like beginning a whole new novel. Of his three books, this is my least favorite. Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Skeletons at the Feast. Uri Singer and his family w...

Linda's Reading Blog: Mistress, Orphan Train, and Eleanor and Park
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/mistress-orphan-train-and-eleanor-and.html
Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Mistress, Orphan Train, and Eleanor and Park. Yeah, yeah, I know, another James Patterson novel. But, dammit, they are just so readable! At first, I didn't think I was going to like this one. The main character is kind of weird because he keeps spouting all this presidential and movie trivia. The usual formula but an engaging hero. Good book! And, then, this one! They learn and change with each other. Loved it! This one is a love story but not your usual romantic one. Eleano...

http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/joyland.html
Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Almost forgot I read this one before a couple of others. The reason I forgot is because it wasn't available on Kindle and I've already passed it on to a friend. Out of sight, out of mind. Anyway, I gulped it in two days. Devin, recovering from his first love, takes a summer job in North Carolina working at an amusement park. There he meets people who will change his life. Http:/ www.bestessays.com/. August 31, 2013 at 5:23 PM. September 4, 2013 at 3:39 PM. Have a great evening.

Linda's Reading Blog: December 2012
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 9, 2012. The Light Between Oceans. I've looked at this book quite a few times and read some reviews. Most were complimentary but some weren't so I put off downloading it until this week when I needed a good book. Boy, was this ever good! I started it on Friday and finished it this morning just after 4am with tears streaming down my cheeks. But can they live with their consciences? And, what happens when they find out who Lucy's real parents are? Saturday, December 1, 2012. Even though sh...

Linda's Reading Blog: Wonder
http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/wonder.html
Thursday, August 15, 2013. This book is amazing! It's about August Pullman, Auggie for short. He was born with major facial deformities and has been homeschooled through fourth grade because of all the surgeries he's had to endure. But, the doctors have done just about all they can for now, so Auggie's parents decide it's time for him to attend regular school. He's not happy about it. He knows he'll be bullied. How much can a kid like him take? Like you review. I think you also like this link :. 19 Skele...

Friday, August 17, 2012. Good, so far. Thursday, July 26, 2012. Title: Tell the Wolves I'm Home. Author: Carol Rifka Brunt. Synopsis: A young girl, who loves her uncle very much, discovers he has AIDS. This is a growing-up novel where she has to come to grips with adult issues, and her own feelings. My rating: * * I loved this book so much. The writing is elegant, and the characters are three dimensional and it was easy for me to identify with their feelings. I highly recommend this book.
