An American Girl in Beijing

An American Girl in Beijing. Friday, March 7, 2008. To this, I smiled and laughed it away. But, inside, I was secretly very happy as 1) my Chinese passed for a native Taiwanese speaker, and 2) this is the 2nd taxi driver in recent days that has said this! And, Beijing taxi drivers are notorious for being very difficult to communicate with since they have a very heavy Beijing accent. So, hooray! Thursday, February 28, 2008. So Many "Must-Dos," So Little Time! In January, it took a few weeks to get adjuste...

An American Girl in Beijing: So Many "Must-Dos," So Little Time!

http://www.carolyninbeijing.blogspot.com/2008/02/so-many-must-dos-so-little-time.html

An American Girl in Beijing. Thursday, February 28, 2008. So Many "Must-Dos," So Little Time! It's just a few days away from March, and I'm filled with a sense of urgency. I feel like I have so much left to do both in the Beijing office and in Beijing itself, and I can't believe how little time I have to do it all. This quarter has flew by, and now I'm wondering where the time has gone! Besides the English Corner, other "musts" in Beijing before I leave include:. Picking up CDs of Chinese pop singers.

An American Girl in Beijing: December 2007

http://www.carolyninbeijing.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Beijing. Tuesday, December 25, 2007. No more gesturing for me. Reading up on Chinese cultural habits, I found some interesting tidbits:. Avoid making expansive gestures and using unusual facial expressions. The Chinese do not use their hands when speaking, and will only become annoyed with a speaker who does. Use your whole hand rather than your index finger to point. The Chinese, especially those who are older and in positions of authority, dislike being touched by strangers. In Nort...

An American Girl in Beijing: Food Firsts + The Best Meal I've Ever Had

http://www.carolyninbeijing.blogspot.com/2008/01/food-firsts-best-meal-ive-ever-had.html

An American Girl in Beijing. Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Food Firsts The Best Meal I've Ever Had. Tonight, I had a delightful dinner with Elisa, Shiwei, Zhexia, and Tim - it was full of good food, laughter and jokes (I even got to practice my newfound ability to swear and insult in Chinese! After dinner, I realized that I've had a lot of "exotic food firsts" here in China, eating things that I've never had the opportunity to sample in the States. Some of them include. Pig's foot (didn't like this one).

An American Girl in Beijing. Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Fingers Crossed in the Midst of Chaos. I myself am supposed to get to Shanghai on Saturday to meet my parents, but Shanghai is one of those major cities affected by this storm. So.am hoping that I will be one of those seemingly lucky few who get to make it to their intended destination. Food Firsts The Best Meal I've Ever Had. Some of them include. Pig's foot (didn't like this one). I hope to add to this list as my time in Beijing goes on! The bro...

Buenos Aires | a chronicle of my trip to Argentina & updates about how God is working there

A chronicle of my trip to Argentina and updates about how God is working there. Feliz Navidad… almost. It’s been a busy few days here in BA. First of all, the Pastors’ Dinner was awesome! By Richard Foster. Kevin really enjoyed reading and learning from that book and thought these pastors might as well. (I may try to read it when I get home). For the first event like this in BA, I think that it went awesome! The pastors participated and we got to know a lot of them. Merry Christmas from the Baggetts!

Carolyn in Buenos Aires | My Semester Abroad

Carolyn in Buenos Aires. May 27, 2012 · 2:21 PM. First off, I can’t believe that I’m writing this post from the airport! My time here in Argentina went by amazingly fast, but before I get all sentimental and reflective, I want to talk about my last big trip to the province of Salta. The trip started out with a few hiccups, but ended very well! 25 hours on that busI was ready to kill someone. Sunday morning I got picked up at 9 for my three day and 2 night horseback riding extravaganza! The next day I lef...

Carolyn's Adventures in Cairo!

Carolyn's Adventures in Cairo! Wednesday, December 9, 2009. I've been asked by a lot of people, in the course of my four or five months here, what my favorite things about Egypt are. In response to the question Autumn and I decided to come up with an "Egypt: Top 5! Could we really think of five things that encompassed all the new and exciting experiences we had lived through during our stay in this exotic country? Turns out we couldn't. But we thought of three. So here they are! Carolyn and Autumn's Top 3.
