Sunday, May 20, 2012. Last year I was invited by curator Patrick Macauley to be one of five artists to participate in 1812-2012: A Contemporary Perspective. This spring at Harbourfront Centre. Time passes slowly. How we remember and how we understand the past is always in question. This exhibition invites five contemporary artists to explore the War of 1812 through its historical complexities and bring forward a contemporary perspective.'. Where everyday life was being reenacted: cooking or dyeing wool o...

Thursday, April 28, 2011. Signs of Spring: Rhubarb Custard Meringue Pie. My rhubarb plants are coming along nicely outside in the garden. I have a huge planter tipped upside down over one of the plants to force it (more on this soon), and it is going to be beautiful. In the meantime, I decided it was time to clean out the freezer - so I decided to thaw out the two remaining bags of rhubarb I froze last spring. I decided to make a recipe from one of my longtime favourite cookbooks, Classic Canadian Cooking.

Thursday, 6 March 2014. DIY Tutorial 4: Hexagonal Quilt. This one is less of a tutorial, and more of a documented journey into quilt making! After seeing a beautiful tray in liberty covered in hexagonal shapes of liberty fabric I have always wanted to try making one of these quilts myself. I'm not sure I have the patience to make a whole quilt (the first one I made I quickly decided it was going to be 'kids sized') so I might just aim towards a cushion. So here it goes! I stitched the hexagons together b...

Friday, 22 June 2012. The most recent addition to the bird family has come in the form of a commission for an Indigo Bunting. These stunning blue birds are commonly found in the eastern and middle states, migrating from southern Canada to northern Florida. To stay true to their name I used indigo blue to dye the yarns, and log wood and henna for the dark brown. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hello and welcome to my blog! View my complete profile. Here at TED we have been very interested in the Transition Town movements that have been emerging all around the world, where local communities are working together to build a low energy future to live and work in and to encourage a more sustainable life. The second year textile students here at Chelsea are working on their next project which is titled. The first Transition Town was founded in Totnes in Devon and there are now several London boroughs that have also joined up. Links to this post. We heard...
