Fat Bike = Fit. The State of Things. Lets start with the stats shall we:. Height: 176cm (5’10”). Anyway, I’m happily married now with two beautiful daughters (almost 3 , and 1 ) and I’ve managed to exorcise most of the demons of my unhappy childhood. Except one – the overhanging gut and manboobs – I guess that’s two. So, with a decent bike sitting in the shed, I’ve taken control. I can track my progress, goals, rewards and awards (I got my first the other day). Join in, make comments, sign up. Share.

That’s one fine schedule of events there. Are you sure you don’t want to trade the M7 marathon for theGold Coast😉. The wife is being all sensible and wants me to complete a marathon first before I start travel to do one. I have to travel to do the M7, but I can drive and stay with family, so the cost is nix.

My First Triathlon: Race Report | chrisfit2009

https://chrisfit2009.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/my-first-triathlon-race-report

Fat Bike = Fit. The State of Things. My First Triathlon: Race Report. Done My first ever triathlon! And all things considered, it went quite well. The day started off early. The 8am start meant I needed to be up and eating by 6ish, and out at the venue by 7am. Having packed the night before, it was (for once) a relatively organised morning for me. To me that’s pretty piss poor. Now I know nothing about the logistics of running a triathlon, but timing mats should have been placed at the both sid...What I ...

Ride Report: Audax Alpine Classic (140km) | chrisfit2009

Fat Bike = Fit. The State of Things. Ride Report: Audax Alpine Classic (140km). In November last year, I got it into my head that I wanted to ride the Audax Alpine Classic. So I entered. I first heard about the Alpine Classic about a year earlier when one of the guys who not infrequently does a local group ride was talking about it. It sounded daunting. 200kms with 50 kms of climbing. Good luck to you, no chance I’ll be doing it. Zero interest. After that, Amy’s Ride Canberra. 530am and I’m up....The fir...

Lazy morning, fast afternoon | chrisfit2009

https://chrisfit2009.wordpress.com/2010/03/26/lazy-morning-fast-afternoon

Fat Bike = Fit. The State of Things. Lazy morning, fast afternoon. The morning started off with a colossal fail. I had organised to go for a 60km (38mi) ride this morning before work. It meant a 6am start. I’d been into work yesterday afternoon and dropped uniform and gear off, so I wouldn’t have to carry a backpack with me on the ride. So I slept in, rang in sick, and then pottered around the house. Actually, I did housework – is there anything more normal and family than that? Laquo; Not so dropped.

Roadrash - My year in Cycling circa 2011: September 2009

http://roadrashblog.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 22, 2009. My hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland to Edmunston, New Brunswick. My current home of Toronto, Ontario to Daytona Beach, Florida. Los Angeles, California to Vancouver, British Columbia. London, England to Naples, Italy. At a rough average of 25km per hour, that also amounts to approximately 80 hours in the saddle. Not bad for a weekend rider. Now, with my goal set at reaching 2100 km, I'm only 94 km short of one hell of a season on the bike. Monday, September 14, 2009.

Just another cycling and nonsense related blog. First training session of the week was an indoor cyle spin (Z3). This was my only indoor session. Only indoor session on a bike that is! Sarahjane and I played badminton again. This was fun, not only because it’s a good game, but because Sarahjane ‘gets competitive’. I beat her 2:1! I’m sure she feels grrr when I publish our match results (perhaps this will stop when she wins a match). Cayo, my road bike, had her first session indoors this week. The rol...

Life and Bikes: The Problems With Heart Rate

http://lifeandbikes.blogspot.com/2010/03/problems-with-heart-rate.html

Wednesday, March 10, 2010. The Problems With Heart Rate. The biggest problem centers around the variability of heart rate. From day to day and hour to hour physiological and environmental factors can produce drastic changes in heart rate. Anyone who's felt their heart beat race after quickly downing a cup of coffee can attest to this. A few months ago, an article in the New York Times examined the heart rate differences. Between morning and afternoon workouts. So what's a cyclist to do? Effort levels, a ...

Think Spring | Mild Stallion

It’s only mostly about the bike. Laquo; BikeAlike: Falling Down. This morning I shoveled the slushy detritus pushed into my driveway from this morning’s snowplow. When I was done, I looked up to see what has become two huge towers of snow. One side is at least 6 feet tall, the other nearly so. These behemoths have been tall enough to affect both the view when entering/exiting the road and trash pickup since the first week of January. So why am I thinking spring now? You can leave a response. For me, it w...

Friday, July 31, 2009. I've sought long and hard to bury my inner geek. Yet no matter how much I try, my true geekiness seems to shine through from time to time. Life and Bikes: April 2010

http://lifeandbikes.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 11, 2010. San Marcos Cycling Weekend - The Short Route. A few sections were a bit challenging, with some short rolling hills that faced directly into the wind. However, the ride was mostly very easy and relaxing. There are few things better than riding down an empty road surrounded by tall trees and nothing but the sound of tires on pavement. Early spring in Texas is a pretty special time. This ride was proof of just how great it can be. Thursday, April 1, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
