Chateau Moorhen: Garden to mid May and a few interesting visitors
https://chateaumoorhen.blogspot.com/2015/05/garden-to-mid-may-and-few-interesting.html
Pond Life Wild Life Good Life . and a bit of French Life. Friday, 22 May 2015. Garden to mid May and a few interesting visitors. Funnily enough, having checked to see that we had actually seen these species before in the garden, I discovered three other species I'd forgotten to put on my garden bird list, so it now stands at 62! The full list can be seen on the page Bird Count at the top of the right sidebar. Mistle Thrush ( Turdus viscivorus. Turtle Dove ( Streptopelia turtur. Their nests are a miracle ...

Pond Life Wild Life Good Life . and a bit of French Life. Sunday, 17 May 2015. Veg patch and Pollinator Meadow in May. What's better than one Painted Lady in your garden? Why, two of course! I was so happy to see the return of these migratory beauties last week. They made a beeline for the Dame's Rocket ( Hesperis matronalis. In my Pollinator Meadow, which is quite a hit with butterflies. And a post about it from last year with lots more critters including bee flies and crab spiders is here. The Pollinat...

Living without an iron: January 2012
http://livingwithoutaniron.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, 1 January 2012. It seems so long ago now that i spent an afternoon casually wandering down St Peter's street market in the sun.as far as blogging is concerned i appear to have a fair bit of catching up to do. Things reached a sort of stalemate, i guess around August 21st (! Trying to throw my memory way back to June 26th, the St Peter's street Market was the first of its ilk that i'd been to in Ipswich despite I Make Fun Stuff. Really lovely, rustic and unique silver jewellry. Trinkety, story tel...

Chateau Moorhen: Latest health update and first Swallowtail
https://chateaumoorhen.blogspot.com/2015/05/latest-health-update-and-first.html
Pond Life Wild Life Good Life . and a bit of French Life. Monday, 11 May 2015. Latest health update and first Swallowtail. Half of me would prefer not to dwell on the horrid side of life, but I think it's a good idea to keep up with my 'journey', as one day I hope I can look back on this nightmare period and think - thank god that's over! So where was I last? I manage to get in for a scan a few days later and to my delight it was actually a CT scan which only lasted 5 mins, as they hadn't been able to fi...

An Oyster By Any Other Name… | julia•elise
https://juliadomenicucci.wordpress.com/2014/03/04/an-oyster-by-any-other-name
Reflections on books, publishing, and research. An Oyster By Any Other Name…. Photo via Wikimedia Commons. Writing an article about oysters has cleared all that up for me. Sort of. The most important thing to remember is that there are five oyster species found in the United States, each with their own geographical location, taste, and visual characteristics:. The shell has a fairly distinct point and the meat is on the sweet side. Anything by the name of Bluepoint, Wellfleet, Malpeques, and a host of ot...

about
http://www.colouritgreen.co.uk/about.html
The point of this website is really because I want to have all my information ready to hand, like a personalised encyclopaedia Also I suppose, a way of sharing the information I have found. Naturally an untidy yet organised sort of person, this is the computerised equivalent of a big box of useful things, opinions and trivia, and then some useless odds and ends thrown in for good luck. Particularly wool, fibre fabric and wood. I’m sorry, but it has to be done. Please read this disclaimer:.

knitting
http://colouritgreen.co.uk/knitting.html
I’ve always been a knitter -. I learnt as a small child, taught by my mother. Thankfully, it is quite popular now, so there is a lot of wonderful yarn and patterns available. As we keep our own flock of sheep and spin the wool, our house now resembles a yarn shop! And knitting is always on the go. I knit for myself and family, as well as for my online shop. And I supply local galleries. You can find me on ravelry. And also check out my pattern library. Which include many free patterns.

livestock and poultry
http://colouritgreen.co.uk/livestock.html
We keep our own animals and birds for two reasons -. Firstly because we want to raise meat and eggs in a way we are happy with. We want them to have a happy life, and, as much as reasonable, to be able to do the things they would naturally do. Pigs should root, chickens dust bath etc. And we want to know what goes into them, to raise them with feeds and treatments we are happy with. Secondly, we really enjoy having them. For day to day chatter on livestock and poultry keeping, check out the blog.

Finding Simplicity: February 2009
http://finding-simplicity.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Leaving mass consumerism and debt behind in order to find a more simple, frugal and eco friendly lifestyle. Friday, 27 February 2009. I just had a phone call. Nothing unusual about that really, except that this one was. Unusual, that is. Here’s how it went:. Ring…ring… [I check number, it’s unavailable. I answer anyway, there‘s a few seconds pause and I clearly hear the caller put the phone down.]. Ring…ring… [I check number again.still unavailable. I answer.]. Him: Is that Mrs Sharon? I love the English...
