Cycling Aotearoa: SHORT: Back from Slovenia
http://cyclingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2011/05/short-back-from-slovenia.html
Blog about my big cycling adventure in New Zealand, or as the Mãori call it 'Aotearoa'. Tuesday, 10 May 2011. SHORT: Back from Slovenia. Personally I had one rest day where I had planned to go paddling, so hiked up a mountain with two others . after snow was encountered we turned back ;-). As this was my first time in my second-hand Wavesport Z it took a bit of time to get used to the kayak, but felt really good and way better than my previous Bliss Stick Flip-stick as river runner. Welcome to my persona...

Today, a little less than a week since I have returned back home, a set of some (in my opinion) sweet images have been published online. The images can be found on the link below. Enjoy! Links to this post. Thursday, 11 March 2010. It has been now a couple days since I am back on Dutch ground again,. Strange to be here. Ah well, that will pass probably. To get a ...
Cycling Aotearoa: April 2010
http://cyclingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Blog about my big cycling adventure in New Zealand, or as the Mãori call it 'Aotearoa'. Friday, 23 April 2010. Why go cycle touring on a recumbent? Within New Zealand and my home country the Netherlands, I get this question from time to time. The short answer that I usually give that it is more fun to be on a recumbent (i.e., "bent" for short), than on an upright bike. As you can probably figure, that is not the whole story to it. And the Optima Condor. Years later (2007) after abusing the Condor to its ...

Blog about my big cycling adventure in New Zealand, or as the Mãori call it 'Aotearoa'. Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Time for something new. After having spent about eight years on the campus of the University. Of Twente, this weekend it was finally time to actually move out. Dont get me wrong, they were a great eight years, though no longer. Being a student the differences between me and my flatmates became. Clear Its not in anyway that I had issues or that I didnt like. Tour of New Zealand 2010 | Exploring South Island by bicycle | Page 2
https://tourofnz.wordpress.com/page/2
Tour of New Zealand 2010. Exploring South Island by bicycle. 5 March, 2010. Had a late start from Greymouth, was delayed by organizing boat back to Wellington, and doing touristy things like looking around town. Highway 6 was surprisingly quiet along the coast, I don’t know why that is as it is probably one of the most spectacular sections of coastal roads that I’ve traveled on in the south island. At Punakaiki I stopped at the Pancake stacks which were truly unique. Distance today: 82.29Km. 4 March, 2010.

Tour of New Zealand 2010. Exploring South Island by bicycle. Archive for February, 2010. Laquo; Older Entries. 28 February, 2010. We spotted quite a few cyclists, some on the Sunday club run, but most on the road were touring. The pic above is of a chap cycling in the opposite direction, I think he was French, not too sure as he didn’t stop, but had a French accent, maybe he was yet another French-Canadian. Distance today: 59.9Km. Distance so far: 2202.27Km. Posted in Queenstown Lakes. 27 February, 2010.

Tour of New Zealand 2010. Exploring South Island by bicycle. Archive for April, 2010. 3 April, 2010. Three weeks have passed since completing the tour. I have filtered through the thousand plus photos. That were taken along the way, the bike has been rebuilt, a few maps were drawn up for the route section. But they still need a bit of tweaking! And I’ve even made a start on the book. So in short, I have had time to reflect on the events. If I had the chance to do it again I would definitely give myself a...
Route & Introduction | Tour of New Zealand 2010
https://tourofnz.wordpress.com/intro
Tour of New Zealand 2010. Exploring South Island by bicycle. The route began in Picton, Marlborough on the South Island. It was just over 3200Km (1988miles) long, and it meandered it’s way around the island in a clockwise direction finishing in Picton. After a rest day in Christchurch, I rode over to the Bank’s Peninsular for some serious climbing, before making my way over to Mt Cook via Lake Tekapo. From Lindas Pass I headed over to Dunedin using the Otago Central Rail Trail – a 150Km o...After Inverca...
The Bike | Tour of New Zealand 2010

Tour of New Zealand 2010. Exploring South Island by bicycle. For this tour I used a Thorn. Raven Tour with the infamous Rohloff hub. Apart from a new chain and set of tires it’s the same one I used for my ride across the USA. Plenty of written material about the RT and Rohloff hubs can be found on the web. The Thorn Raven Tour is a great all round bike. It may be a bit over-built for setting records but it’s a nice bike for touring. I find it comfortable and it works! Rims: Sun Ringle CR18. In retrospect...

colonial diaspora: January 2010

Sunday, January 31, 2010. Been to Golden Bay. But before we went I captured a recumbent cyclist who mistakenly imagined he would get through Motueka without my spies reporting him to me. His name was Eddo Kloosterman and you will immediately deduce that he was Dutch and from that further deduce that he was eight feet seven tall. Why are all Dutchmen oversize? Everything we don't know about recumbents is known to the Dutch,. Posted by richard middleton at 10:26 PM. Saturday, January 23, 2010. Clever accor...

The secret diary of an apprentice cycle racer | …aged 44 1/2
The secret diary of an apprentice cycle racer. 8230;aged 44 1/2. If you think this is over then you’re wrong. October 11, 2012. It’s like I’ve fallen out of bed from a long and vivid dream. Finally I’m free of all the weight I’ve been carrying…. After a frankly quite ridiculous total of 38 races spread over two full seasons I have finally achieved the bare minimum of what I set out to do at the beginning of last year. About is cheating, but I’m not going to go there just now). Don’t get me wrong, I adore...

A BIKING TOUR THROUGH SOUTHEAST ASIA, NEPAL and THE INDIAN HIMALAYAS. Caroline and Sertx set off in January 2012 to cycle from Malaysia up through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Southern China, Nepal and Northern India for 8 months. We then swapped the bicycles for a Royal Enfield to continue the trip north through the Indian Himalayas for a further 3 months. In doing this trip we helped the charity 'Child's Dream' by raising enough money to build a secondary school for 205 children. Thanks to you we raised:.
