Puff the Magic Dragon: Big Ad
http://puffdragon-helen.blogspot.com/2007/06/big-ad.html
Puff the Magic Dragon. Tuesday, 5 June 2007. My god it’s big: big in the sublime unsubtlety of its message, big music, big scenery, big cast, big budget, big impact – this morning, for the first time ever, I found myself belting out a tune in the shower. It's a big ad. Such a big ad. It's just so freak- - -ing big. About the only thing this big ad. Lacks is big hair. Thank you so much. I needed a laugh this morning. And now I think I need a Carlton draught. 5 June 2007 at 04:35. 10 June 2007 at 12:36.

Puff the Magic Dragon: Go All the Way/The Raspberries
http://puffdragon-helen.blogspot.com/2007/06/go-all-waythe-raspberries.html
Puff the Magic Dragon. Thursday, 14 June 2007. Go All the Way/The Raspberries. Is there any fruit more sublime than the raspberry? I heard this song in a commercial recently. I can't remember what they were selling. Yes, nothing quite as summery as raspberries. 15 June 2007 at 10:25. Eric Carmen's hair-do looks a lot like mine before I brush it in the morning. 16 June 2007 at 08:00. PS Eye'm knot a godo speller. 16 June 2007 at 08:01. 18 June 2007 at 04:36. Puff the Magic Dragon: Photograph/Nickleback
http://puffdragon-helen.blogspot.com/2007/06/photographnickleback.html
Puff the Magic Dragon. Monday, 18 June 2007. The first one is of an elephant that no longer has a face. It looks like someone has used a powersaw to cross-section its skull, then taken a baseball bat to whatever was inside. I suppose there’s no neat and tidy way of removing tusks. Of us all together, and wonder sometimes if I should take it down and put it in a box at the back of my closet. Wow Wow and heartbreaking. 20 June 2007 at 10:20. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And mummy can I have that big elephant over there? Who’s that in my chair? And what’s he doing there? Mummy, up here! Mummy, can I go over there? Hey mummy, what is square? And where do we get air? And mummy can I have that big elephant over there? Of course I’d heard Art Blakey. A little later, Oscar Brown Jr.

Songs from the Field: 102/365 Mas y Mas
http://songsfromthefield.blogspot.com/2007/05/102365-mas-y-mas.html
Thursday, May 17, 2007. 102/365 Mas y Mas. Have you ever bought a CD on a whim and then were unable to decide if you liked it? That happened to me with Los Lobos’s Colossal Head. Then something happened. I don’t know what. One day I put it on and loved the whole thing. The all-over-the-placeness of it now sounded like a brilliant mix tape. Is one song I always loved. I just read Helen's post, and I'm thinking this is the song you put on when people start leaving your party and you don't want them to go.

Songs from the Field: 192/365 Cassidy
http://songsfromthefield.blogspot.com/2007/08/192365-cassidy.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2007. I have seen where the wolf has slept by the silver stream. I can tell by the mark he left, you were in his dream. Ah, child of countless trees, ah, child of boundless seas. What you are, and what you’re meant to be. Speaks his name, though you were born to me,. Born to me, Cassidy. Way back in the 80s, when I wasn’t 100% sure I wasn’t going to have a kid, listening to this. Grateful Dead song always made think that if I did have one, Cassidy. Born to me, Cassidy. Songs from the Field: 189/365 Manhã de Carnaval
http://songsfromthefield.blogspot.com/2007/08/189365-manha-de-carnaval.html
Sunday, August 19, 2007. 189/365 Manhã de Carnaval. I’m back. What a perfect vacation that. This year, everyone who showed up was a repeat—we all had been there the same week previously. There’s an amazing energy with this group, no doubt in part a result of Tim. 8217;s cocktail parties. The professional, played several, but my favorite was his “Manhã de Carnaval” (mmmmmm…Brazilian). You can sample his interpretation of it here. With Luiz Bonfá and Caterina Valente. That night, I was aware of my happiness.

Songs from the Field: 190/365 Lighthouse
http://songsfromthefield.blogspot.com/2007/08/190365-lighthouse.html
Monday, August 20, 2007. Lighthouse tall and grand. Standing on that cold headland. Shine your light across the sea. For a wayward sailor girl like me. I have to go back to work. Right now. First stop: Read final pages for a quarterly journal. So many stops after that. But it was a good vacation. 8220;Lighthouse” isn’t my favorite Waifs song, but it’s a good one, and it’s available. Sadly, they haven’t been back. Sadder still, it’s Monday morning. Oh lighthouse man I’m all at sea. And yeah, isn't learnin...
