Rubber Chicken Studios, Inc. Anything and everything from the RC Studios. Sunday, 22 July 2012. Short Story Sunday: Hemmingway Edition. Legend has it that Hemmingway was in a bar (where else, amirite? And he was bet that he couldn't make a short story with only ten words. His retort was that he could do it in six. A few seconds and ten bucks on the table later, he said to his drinking companion "For Sale: Baby's shoes. Never worn.". Welcome to Short Story Sunday: Hemingway edition! The coffee’s cold.

Post-Launch Reviews: Far Cry 3
http://postlaunch.blogspot.com/2015/07/far-cry-3.html
Most reviews don't take into account patches or updates. but these ones do! Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Story complete with most extras in 19h. Was praised with average review scores of 90%. Reviewers loved the large open world, extensive story missions, weapons and unlocks, and array of characters. Some critics felt that the story was unrealistic and the characters unsympathetic. Various pre-order DLCs were later made available for purchase, included in deluxe editions, or added as free UPlay content on PC.

Post-Launch Reviews: The Legend of Korra
http://postlaunch.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-legend-of-korra.html
Most reviews don't take into account patches or updates. but these ones do! Wednesday, 22 July 2015. The Legend of Korra. The Legend of Korra (. Story complete in 4h:42min. Some lazy looking around revealed no evidence of post-launch patching. Strap yourselves in because this is going to be one of the only negative reviews I've ever written. The game is very much a combat-focused arena brawler. The story is bare-bones, just enough to justify all the fights in various locations from the show. It d...The L...

Most reviews don't take into account patches or updates. but these ones do! Wednesday, 24 June 2015. 7 hours of Enemy Unknown. Humanity's only hope against the overwhelmingly advanced threat is XCOM, a secret organization dedicated to researching and defeating the aliens. XCOM's commander struggles to balance technological and biological research, facility expansion, training and recruitment, and global panic while deploying squads of soldiers to repel attacks and seize research material. North: Cat for scale
http://northboardgame.blogspot.com/2014/03/cat-for-scale.html
Friday, 7 March 2014. This is the current shape of the board, with cat for scale. I plan to make the board smaller - the individual hex size is unchanged from the last design, but now that there are more hexes in a different shape than the original plan, the board is too big. They could be smaller, so they will be smaller. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Author of Post-Launch Reviews and D4sign; gamer, artist, and nerd extraordinaire. View my complete profile. North: June 2013

Friday, 28 June 2013. Heat, Endurance, Health:. Your three core resources. You lose heat every night in the cold; you lose endurance if you have no heat left, and you can also spend it to move more or to re-roll; and you lose health if you have no heat or endurance left. There are other ways to lose endurance and health directly. If you run out of health, you fall unconscious and return to town. The conflict resolution mechanic. Roll a 20-sided die and add your skill modifier. If the result is eq...You w...

North: January 2014
http://northboardgame.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 17 January 2014. A while back I posted a half-formed thought on changing North. S win condition: putting the rescue targets on the board and having them move slowly north, so that the players would have to chase them. At that point I was thinking about switching to actions instead of the flat 1 move and 1 encounter per turn, but I was worried that putting the rescue targets on the map would cut the original mechanic I was using for the win condition: coldbringer lair assaults. And I'll try to act...

Squid Ink: Lockstep
http://szthesquid.blogspot.com/2015/04/lockstep.html
Thoughts and links and whatever else comes out. Sunday, 26 April 2015. Apparently I'm on a sci-fi book binge all of a sudden. I blame birthday gifts. Second book is Karl Schroeder's Lockstep. I love the worlbuilding, but the actual story has a lot of bits that come off as "generic young adult dystopia". That's all awesome. Fantastic ideas. Something I've never seen before, but is also a great, logical way for a huge non-lightspeed space empire to function. But that's just a trick! The book only makes me ...
