Exploring from Woodbridge…. Loulabelle is a Baycruiser 23 with a yawl rig from Swallow Boats. She is easily trailed between sailing grounds due to her water ballast system allowing her to take on or lose 500kg. Her carbon rig enables quick single handed riging. From trailer to water usually takes between just over an hour. Inside she has four berths and a well designed galley. Essentially a development on the Neolithic house design we saw on Orkney but more high rise with surrounding water features. Exploring from Woodbridge…. June 2, 2015. May Fair Isle to Stronsey and on to Wick. Fair Isle was not so fair this morning. We set off for what should have been about a 50 mile trip but by the time we had fought against the wind we have completed 76 miles. Good Bye Fair Isle. We beat and beat against the wind for 15 hours with mostly a sea view. It was with some relief that we anchored at Stronsey. Keen for better winds the following day. Mull head at the northern tip of Deerness came and went.

We were off again early the next morning for a 75 mile passage to Peterhead. We were now rushing south to reach Edinburgh by the end of the week. The passage passed without incident on a broad reach. The harbour was full of activity and another opportunity for boat handling. And so to our last full passage in Scotland . All went well for the first 70 miles. June 5, 2015 / 4:44 pm.

We enjoyed a cracking sail and with music playing in the cockpit by the time we reached Blyth we were on a real high. June 19, 2015. We set sail at midnight and headed out of the Forth. The Bass rock came and went and we slipped into the routine of night watches. Overnight the wind was blowing Force 4 to 5. The sun rose and theme for the day was Casual watch.
