Quilting in the Desert

Quilting in the Desert. Thursday, June 27, 2013. It's been a long week. And I have been crazy busy and not feeling too hot for a couple of days. Had myself a little bladder infection that started on Sunday. I hate hate hate those. But it's doing much better now. But I hate antibiotics too, but this is one of those times when there is NO choice! I've been busy sewing all week making collars and such. Doing some days of the Creative Journal and missing a couple of them and one of them is not finished.

Quilting in the Desert: No, I wasn't ignoring the blog, my internet was bye bye for about 2 days!

http://www.desertquilting.blogspot.com/2013/06/no-i-wasnt-ignoring-blog-my-internet.html

Quilting in the Desert. Thursday, June 20, 2013. No, I wasn't ignoring the blog, my internet was bye bye for about 2 days! At first I thought it was my computer. You know the deal, you call the provider and they tell you that everything looks fabulous on their end, no problems at all, must be you. And that's exactly what they said. So my 365 stuff is late! So day 4. Take a walk and use materials that you find, make something and leave it there for someone else. Very girl scoutish, but hey what the heck!

Quilting in the Desert: Fun fun fun doing the 365 day of creativity!

Quilting in the Desert. Saturday, June 22, 2013. Fun fun fun doing the 365 day of creativity! Ok, it's been a day! Internet is still spotty for me. And was off a lot yesterday. So when I make this post will certainly depend on my internet connection. :). I love that. I have changed some things. :). Yesterday. Make a stencil, use it in your work. Well, nope, that didn't do much for me, so here's what I did:. I figured that since tonight is a supermoon, I thought I'd applique a coyote and a supermoon!

Quilting in the Desert: Show and tell!

http://www.desertquilting.blogspot.com/2013/06/show-and-tell.html

Quilting in the Desert. Saturday, June 22, 2013. Back in January I joined a group of very talented women to do a Cotton Robin. Actually if you've ever heard of a round robin, that's what it is. And since we've now all got our blocks back, I can show you mine and the ones I worked on. This is the block I sent. My very favorite teal with some greens, beige and yellows. This is my block when everyone was finished with it! See all those little squares? Amazing, just absolutely amazing! The next gal put the l...

Quilting in the Desert: I did it too!

http://www.desertquilting.blogspot.com/2013/06/i-did-it-too.html

Quilting in the Desert. Saturday, June 22, 2013. I did it too! I created a blog just for my 365 Daily Creativity Journal stuff! So I won't be posting here about that stuff anymore! Stuff here will be just my plain old quilting and my plain old boring life! And speaking of boring life. Some of the horses that roam in the pasture behind me. :) They are too skittish to come to me, even when I have something good for them to eat, but I enjoy watching them and often can be heard talking to them! Bless Us O Lo...

Monday, 26 September 2011. Peanut on Assignment : this Land that we Love. Last week Maggie asked if we could tell a little more about our land, now I didn't ask her to specify so I hope Peanut and I did a good job, Maggie! Warning, there is a little bit of Rat Terrier worship in this post.I could not resist including photos of her too. Peanut is so very excited when I grab the car keys and say 'come-on Peanut.' She runs out the door then jumps up for joy with her two front paws on my legs, every time.

Sunday, 28 August 2011. Weekend Snapshots : Moments to remember. Unplanned moment to remember. I love the simple things in life.the surprise moments that come unplanned. I cherish these days at home with Hubbie, the dogs, our Pullets, the honeybees and all the wonderful wildlife that share our home and land and though these everyday scenes may seem mundane to anyone else, to me.they are my happy places. Friday, 22 August 2014. These images are the reason we love to live in the country. The beauty and natural world feeds the soul, the silence is broken by birdsong and the occasional deer and wild turkey. Wild flowers and plants are amazingly abundant, believe me, I've tried to identify them and it's a long list. Firewood? Enjoy these images of beautiful Eastern Ontario. Going apple picking in the Fall. Wood salvaged from the old farmhouse to make pretty things. Two front bee hives in winter. This is the ...

Pinney and Pnut: October 2011

http://pinneyandpnut.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 25 October 2011. Remember Duckie in the film Pretty in Pink. He would say 'let's plough' - that is a movie from my early twenties - I've been trying to find a used copy to view once again for Nostalgia's sake. Molly Ringwald was in all the movies then. But I digress. Let's Plough the field. This past Saturday he came into the house (he spends all his days working outdoors) and announced " Lynney I'm going to go plough the field now! So I dropped my sewing and grabbed the camera and off we went.

Thursday, 22 December 2011. The day has arrived and Mother Nature greeted us with a dazzling show - the sun was out and shining through a veil of icy trees, grass and leaves. Hubbie was so captivated by the beauty that he went out and captured these images. While I pulled-out the ingredients for tonight's feast following the bonfire at sunset - I wanted to celebrate the foods which we were able to collect and grow on our land so we are having lasagna. Thursday, 24 November 2011. Pantry Love : Yep I heart my pantry! Have you entered the Winter Solstice Giveaway? First I must say a heartfelt 'rank-roo' to all our little friends who wished Jack a speedy recovery. I am not a morning person but this morning I was awake very early - I was rejoicing at the fact that Jack had a night without one single hacking cough -yippee! And Hubbie gave me the 'thumbs-up'. We are so relieved. About my love for my Pantry. I built the spice rack from leftover 1x2's that wer...

Desert Quill

Welcome to my website. I’m Marlene Moser Oar. For the last nine years it has been my privilege to travel with my husband to Honduras. Honduras is a beautiful country with sparkling white beaches and blue-green Caribbean waters-exotic flowers and 700 different species of butterflies. It is a land of perpetual mountains which flow together from one end of the country to the other. In its valleys are still found the imprint of the ancients in Mayan temples that have withstood time and the elements.

Friday, May 22, 2015. The journey part 7. Once a month we checked into the extended stay hotel that had become our home away from home. We settled into a routine of getting up at crack of dawn. On days when I didn’t have blood tests we ate a continental breakfast in a little room off the lobby. All I remember about the breakfast fare was some really bad muffins. But I was grateful for the coffee. On the days when I had fasting blood tests we went directly to the hospital. On the lobby desk I saw a notice...

Thursday, February 10, 2011. The best jewelry is precious but not necessarily "precious". Don't be. I only mean that jewelry delivered from the heart is precious and doesn't need to be of precious metals or stones. Take a look at what was in my mailbox tonight! Purchased from and handmade with love by my niece. I told her not to forget the bill. That would be the post-it-note with her math scribbles. 3 pairs of earrings, 2 bracelets and 1 ring. Total for this loot? Wednesday, February 9, 2011. So hollere...
