The weekend of 31st May 2009 we had a bunch of 5 out from the club, mostly in club kit, very fetching. We wanted a long medium paced ride so headed north to Garstang. And over the Trough of Bowland. Just noticed the event timing on the French version of the Etape. Website. They're giving 10h 30m as a total disqualification. Time This is a whole hour more than last year. Again, my optimism of being able to drive to south wales do the Dragon and back in the same day was unfounded. I was hoping to be sharing this experience with one or two of the others but it wasn't to be. The decision. I decided to ride from home to the start at Horwich. And started the climb over the back of Waddington. Fell, then the trouble started.

Sunday, 13 March 2011. We had over 4 minutes 'in the bank' as we started lap 2 but it was starting to hurt. My stomach was horrible due to the gels and maybe the clams I had last night. I felt I was hanging on and it wasn't surprising give I hit the half marathon point at about 1:46; my PB until the Brighton Half. Sunday, 23 May 2010. I'm sitting in my back-yard in the sun enjoying a cup of tea. I've been awake for a long time. The thought of swimming is ever present. I have toyed with the ides of not going to Eton to do the Ultra-Fit tri but you lot have convinced me that I can do it. So I'm going to jump on the bike in a bit and cycle down there. 1000m swim. It is make or break in my eyes. If its no better than last week, its the end of Triathlon for me. I'm sick of feeling like this. Thanks for all the support.

Saturday, 22 January 2011. IceMan Cross Country 12k Race. Getting up at 6:40 on a Saturday morning to go and run in the cold is not everyone's idea of fun but I was really looking forward to this. I was very tired and did struggle to get out of the house but I made it to Clapham Junction with 3 minutes to spare. Monday, 21 February 2011. It only took seven years. I arrived in Brighton having only run 10 miles that week and 3 miles in the previous 3 weeks due to my twisted ankle. I had sort of been given the all clear by the Physio. I had done the runs she had suggested and then had all gone well without and pain during or after. Then I tried a fast run on Saturday which also went OK so I gave myself the green light. Risk my ankle flaring up on me to get a good time or pull back and wonder what could have been?

L'Etape du Tour 2008 - Kelly's Heroes. Sunday, 30 March 2008. The Cheshire Cat 2008. The eagerly awaited start of British Summer Time marked the first major sportive of 2008 for Kelly's Heroes - the Kilotogo Cheshire Cat. It was time to see if those hard fought winter miles (for some of us anyway) had paid off. Phil eventually dropped back to join me (and probably regretted it! I reached the finish in a time of 3:37, with satisfyingly sore quads. Overall, it was another excellent event from Kilotogo.
