Water For Tea – Purified, Spring, or Tap? | A Foodie Moment
http://www.foodiemoment.com/2011/02/26/water-for-tea-purified-spring-or-tap
Sharing the passion of food. Water For Tea – Purified, Spring, or Tap? February 26th, 2011 at 3:35 pm (AST) by Jake Richter. I have been camping out in a hotel for a month and a half, and in order to still enjoy my whole leaf tea, I have my Teavana Tea Steeper. And a small hot water heater. Local tap water here in Cincinnati is rather foul (my apologies on multiple levels to Cincinnatians), so I have been buying cases of bottled water for me tea brewing. In any event, I have learned my lesson, and while ...

Sharing the passion of food. Making Pasta Less Unhealthy. July 7th, 2011 at 7:05 am (AST) by Jake Richter. As some of you know, I am presently in Boston getting treated for Stage IIIC melanoma cancer, and one of the things I am trying to understand is what the impact of a low-carb, high protein and fat diet is on the side effects of my immunotherapy treatment with Sylatron. To replace some of the unhealthy wheat flour in the pasta. Kraft Veggie Mac and Cheese. So kudos to Kraft, and I hope we will see gr...

Sharing the passion of food. Adventures in Cooking with the La Caja China Roaster. February 4th, 2010 at 4:58 pm (AST) by Jake Richter. I am a tough person to buy presents for – at least that’s what my family tells me. They claim that if I want something, I will just go out and buy it. So about a year ago my family decided to surprise me with something they knew I didn’t have nor even knew about to order it for myself: a La Caja China roasting box. In New York City a few months prior. Marinating and brin...

Insights From a Renaissance Guy and Polymath Who Has Stage IV Melanoma Cancer. October 5th, 2012. With just hours to spare before we said our farewell to New Hampshire, the headstone and grave marker were installed in the cemetery. About 5pm on Thursday Sept. 27th, Krystyana and I arrived at the cemetery to watch as they placed the stones. This was the first time we got to see the finished stones instead of drawings and Photoshop ideas on a computer. Some of you may recognize it. It was taken by Jake...

Insights From a Renaissance Guy and Polymath Who Has Stage IV Melanoma Cancer. October 16th at Ol’ Blue/Tolo October 22nd, 2012. We arrived at Ol’ Blue around 5:30pm. Although sunset would be at 6:14pm, it was already darkening as the cloud cover was pretty thick except for this amazing break in the clouds which let the sun stream through. We helped each other down to the sea as the coral stone beach slid under foot. Krystyana and Martin joined me for putting the ashes into the sea. SBC – LaDonna. Octobe...

Wednesday, July 17, 2013. I threw this together with some pantry staples. Nothing like getting home after six and getting dinner on the table before seven! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. Although, when I said, "Do you know what would make this better? At the table, Nick's first answer was "Bacon! Next time, try sauteing a couple strips of bacon before the garlic and corn, use the bacon fat to cook the rest, and then crumble the bacon on top of the finished dish. 2 tbsp olive oil. 4 cloves garlic, minced.

Foodie Mom In London. Thursday, 2 January 2014. A Look Back at Christmas 2013. I have had one of the best Christmasses I can remember for a long time.
