Urban Ichthyosapien: Things I Want This Year
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2011/09/things-i-want-this-year.html
Sunday, September 04, 2011. Things I Want This Year. For various reasons this year, the mermaid is going minimal. That's never helpful with a birthday coming up, because that's when gifts start to materialize out of wherever. So without much adieu, here is a list of things I would much rather have than knickknacks and doodads:. A baby elephant or a rhino (or both! They can play together! Hey wait, there are people in Africa right? And Doctors Without Borders. And people here at home. Love this post. ...

Urban Ichthyosapien: September 2013
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 05, 2013. It's officially a year since my last post on this blog. In that time I've moved to Vancouver, done the 3-Day Novel once more, launched a few websites and ongoing services and generally felt shitty about most of it. I guess it's a good sign that I'm writing at all? Posted by Freshwater Mermaid. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I don't claim to have all the answers, but if my journey helps other stalwart explorers, so be it. Montreal, Quebec, Canada. New Orleans...

Urban Ichthyosapien: September 2010
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 27, 2010. Burnt, burned, still breathing. With jittery fingers, through a haze of strong pharmaceuticals, today I look out at my 33rd year. Friday came with flames. I don’t know where it started, but the smoke was everywhere. It was near enough to block the sun with fumes. From my downtown office run, back up and across to the west, on this day, my city burned. Fitting then, that I should spend the next few days choking on its used body. Can vapour do that? I cab back after a phone call...

Urban Ichthyosapien: February 2011
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 03, 2011. Paranoid election coverage in 3 .2. Post-holiday grudge match interrupted to bring you my paranoid musings on the recent decision regarding usage based billing, UBB in Canada. On the surface, the decision seems strange considering the usual position taken by the Harper government on issues of technology and net neutrality. But they do have something to gain. Personally, I disagree with many decisions by the CRTC, and I agree with many others. Rather than work to make it i...

Urban Ichthyosapien: I Fell - Stitches Out Edition
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-fell-stitches-out-edition.html
Monday, June 13, 2011. I Fell - Stitches Out Edition. Breaking news: my stitches are out! I've been using staircases, sitting properly in chairs, even bending down to reach the bottom shelves and drawers occasionaly! Yep, it's been pretty real. For those last few wound voyeurs out there who just can't get enough of my sexay sexay knee opening, here's what it looked like right after the stitches came out,. And here's what it looked like as of about 10 minutes ago when those bandage things came off:. Flick...

Urban Ichthyosapien: I Fell - Update
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2011/06/i-fell-update.html
Thursday, June 09, 2011. I Fell - Update. Some of you crazy folks out there have actually asked for more pictures of my mangled knee. I absolutely can't imagine why, but I have more to do with my time than contemplate the motives of wound voyeurs. So here it is, my knee one week after my fateful tumble on a Notre Dame sidewalk. Stitches come out on Monday (if you're reading this in the future, that's four days from now). Posted by Freshwater Mermaid. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). New Orleans dot com.

Urban Ichthyosapien: March 2010
http://freshwatermermaid.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 22, 2010. We've been gloating about healthcare since 1966, possibly more loudly since '84 when the Healthcare Act was passed. But those days are behind us. You've finally found a way to cover all (okay most, we don't cover everyone either) Americans and get between individuals and the coverage they need. And universal daycare (two provinces out of 10, we're working on it). Posted by Freshwater Mermaid. Links to this post. Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Open Source Washing Machine Project About.
