Or growing your own victory garden. Laquo; Put a number on it. Permaculture part one Karonga. February 20, 2012. Ask most baby boomers or gen xers about chokos, and they’ll scrunch up their face, questioning why you would ever grow such vile fruit. Most gen y’ers would only think of them as that thing maccas used to put in their apple pies before they actually put apples. It’s the most super simple thing ever. 1 buy a choko. I got mine from the local woolies. 2 leave it to shoot. seriously, it will.

This is what my neighbour yelled out to me as I was placing stencils on my green bins, branding them as my own. But its a very simple process with a really impactful result. Scalpel and cutting mat. Some old newspaper for masking. Choose a font you want to put on your bin. I used Eames. Repeat for as many numbers as you need. Or leave a trackback: Trackback URL.

permaculture part one – Karonga | gardening in heels
https://gardeninginheels.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/permaculture-part-one-karonga
Or growing your own victory garden. Permaculture part two garden2plate. Permaculture part one Karonga. April 17, 2012. Whoops ok, it’s been a little while since I’ve posted, so I thought I’d talk about the three permaculture gardens I’ve visited in the past few months. The first one was Karonga. A school for students with special needs. I was there with my local Permie group learning how to make passata. Then there is another garden with keyhole beds and chickens (which made me miss mine). Back to the top.

The 6x8 garden: Update
http://the6x8garden.blogspot.com/2011/06/update.html
Space, light, texture and taste. Monday, June 13, 2011. Everything is growing beautifully. The cilantro is finishing up and bolting, but I got a week's worth of burrito toppings out of it first. The basil also has seen a lot of use—the grocery store has gorgeous heirloom tomatoes now, so I've been indulging in caprese salads quite a bit. Labels: balcony garden 2011. June 14, 2011 at 3:37 AM. The 6x8 garden: July 2009
http://the6x8garden.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Space, light, texture and taste. Monday, July 20, 2009. Not looking too bad after yesterday's storm. Just some of the more delicate flowers (petunias and nasturtiums) are a little ragged. But the squash started to topple over the edge! Then it stormed AGAIN today! And more fell over the edge. Maybe they'll continue to grow like that? Links to this post. Labels: balcony garden 2009. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. I'm glad for the rain (I don't have to water so often), but it's not good for my fungus infected st...
The 6x8 garden: Tomato + Basil — classic companions in the garden and kitchen
http://the6x8garden.blogspot.com/2010/05/tomato-basil-classic-companions-in.html
Space, light, texture and taste. Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Tomato Basil — classic companions in the garden and kitchen. Tomatoes and basil go together like peas and carrots, but I suppose that's another post :). When grown together they are supposed to improve each others flavor and vigor, but that may just be an old wives tale, since I can't find any research to back up the claim. I will say it's convenient to plant. Them together so it's easy to harvest. The tomato I'm growing is the Patio by Bonnie.

Random musing on space and place. And gardening. And eating and drinking things. January 10, 2011. At the end of 2009 moving to HB was still contemplation. I seem to remember posting. Some rather grand visions for what I hoped 2010 might hold. So what does the year look like with the benefit of hindsight rather than foresight? Well pretty good really. . Admittedly lots of things remain on the to do list. Oh and asparagus, blueberries, globe artichokes, another row of apple trees, a walnut tree and a haze...

Random musing on space and place. And gardening. And eating and drinking things. Slash and burn (and snooze) ». March 26, 2011. It is indeed official. We have an asparagus bed. A long thin strip near the rhubarb and blueberries. Featuring Pacific Purple, Connovers Colossal and Gijnlim. The crowns are weird looking things. Quite alien. We wont be eating the benefits for a year or two but it will be worth the wait. . Posted at 10:29 PM in Asparagus. The comments to this entry are closed.

Monday, August 15, 2011. Good tomato harvest year. Having been delinquent once again about keeping up my blog, with such feeble excuses I won't even name them, I want to finally post a report on this year's very pleasing tomato harvest. None of my tomatoes have been affected badly so far this year by blight, with the exception of the bush tomatoes. This hasn't, however, daunted them in producing prodigious amounts of fruit. Here one of the bush tomatoes, on our fifth floor patio, i.e. wit...The yellow "p...

And he is already talking about planting more for the fall! I think I am going to start talking about who is going to be cooking all these potatoes. Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Some o...
