Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The Bunkhouse is what we call the little cottage next to our home. I use it for my workspace and it also serves as our guest quarters. It's a sweet little 500 Sq. Ft. beach cottage, single wall construction so in the summer it's baking in there. But I have managed to slide in a few sewing days so far this summer. So we moseyed on over to Fabrix. Gayle Ortiz: March 2015

http://gayleygirl.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 8, 2015. Puyallup, Seattle and Bugs. I went up to Puyallup last weekend for the Sewing Expo. I wasn't going to go but when I heard Marcy Tilton. Say she might not attend the show in the future I booked my flight. Didn't want to miss what might be her last fashion show and incredible booth. She and her sister, Katherine Tilton. The show was such a shot in the arm. I didn't realize I needed it but after the first show (we saw it twice! That was fun, I always love to be with someone who buys s...

Gayle Ortiz: April 2015

http://gayleygirl.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 12, 2015. This vest was self drafted. The fabric is from Marcy Tilton. It's one of the pieces I got up at the Sewing Expo in Puyallup especially for this vest. It worked out really well. It's a ribbed cotton knit. I like the weight and drape. And, as I was saying last post, it has the right kind of print for me. Nothing that draws the eye away from the lines of the vest but not a solid either. This is the kind of print I'll be looking for in the future. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Here's a goo...

8220;Whether or not God has kissed your brow, you still have to work. Without learning and preparation, you won’t know how to harness the power of that kiss.”. Saturday, December 21, 2013. Creating A Skirt Pocket. Here is my first pattern draft with the pocket drawn out in red. I started my pocket 2" in from the side seam and, as you will see later in this post, I think it was not in far enough. I ended the pocket about 6 inches down and then drew in a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Muslin made up. As I me...

8220;Whether or not God has kissed your brow, you still have to work. Without learning and preparation, you won’t know how to harness the power of that kiss.”. Sunday, March 9, 2014. Steve is away in Atlanta for a bit so I am catching up on old movies. I watched Funny Face last night with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. Look at the red tie belt on Astaire's trousers! Audrey Hepburn's style takes my breath away. Even when 'hanging out' the clothing is elegant. Oh, to be able to dress like that again.

8220;Whether or not God has kissed your brow, you still have to work. Without learning and preparation, you won’t know how to harness the power of that kiss.”. Wednesday, July 17, 2013. New Dress By Marci Tilton. It is hot in New England! It has some nice visual interest with a curvy front panel, inverted pleats in the front, pockets, box pleat in the back, a very wide band at the hem, and a stand up collar. HMM - busy! I've not abandoned my dress for my DD's shower. My pima cotton came in for the un...

I've enjoyed all of your posts over the past couple of months, but feel like I've 'gone missing'. Jonadele Fashions: March 2016

http://jonadelefashions.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 28, 2016. This is a vest that I made from some Japanese silk which I clapped and hand dyed. It is very light weight. I hand sewed the hems and together. It has a big black button on the side. I am going on Marcy and Katherine Tilton's Paris trip in May. I thought this would be a vest that wouldn't take up much room in my suitcase. Friday, October 21, 2016. Back from my trips. First I went to Ireland and was able to stay with my friend Fiona's parents on their farm. This is one of the old buildings that was along the coast on a drive we took. We climbed up to a old burial site and you could see how green and beautiful Ireland is. We took a trip into Dublin and spent a day touring the city. These are sculptures that are done to remind people of the times that Ireland went through starvation. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
