And its whole purpose is to save you from tilting your head when you look at shelves of books at a bookstore or library. I think I might need this. Not because I'm tired of tilting my neck, but because it's just so funny. You scoff? Just wait until you're eighty with a sore neck and I'll be fine. :-). View my complete profile.

Going to Pieces - Homeschooling: August 2009

Thursday, August 20, 2009. A New Look at School. Like a lot of other folks these days, we are getting ready for the start of another school year. But last spring we veered off of the traditional school track, and I don't think we'll be jumping on that train anytime school. That means our getting ready for school has been a bit different this year. Once it occurs to you that maybe the traditional school model isn't the best one for your child, it's simply amazing the options that you can find. When a good...

Going to Pieces - Books and Reading: June 2012

Sunday, June 17, 2012. Diary of a Small Fish. Speaking of free books, one I read recently is Diary of a Small Fish. By Pete Morin. I probably shouldn't have started out with that introduction, because that makes it sound like the free part is what is important. (Which it wasn't, but it WAS a nice bonus.) And really, what I want to tell you is that it was a terrific story. Posted by Diane Perin Hock. Friday, June 15, 2012. I Love Michael Gallagher. It's amazing, really, what a service Michael (may I call ...

Going to Pieces - Books and Reading: Vanity Fare
http://goingtopiecesbooks.blogspot.com/2013/01/vanity-fare.html
Sunday, January 13, 2013. I'm a sucker for those novels about women who chuck their careers to open a restaurant, or who go to visit their ailing grandmothers and end up taking over the town bakery, or who start making bread to release anger after a divorce, and end up as successful bakery owners. And when I picked up Vanity Fare. It was a fun book, in a minor sort of way. Posted by Diane Perin Hock. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Bruno, Chief Of Police. Going to Pieces - Homeschooling: April 2011
http://learningonalllevels.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 5, 2011. There are so many resources for homeschooling families on the Internet. I start looking at one thing, and then I follow a link, or two, or seven, and along the way I discover all sorts of tools I hadn't known about. But I like the idea. And having some prepared notebook pages could come in handy. Hmmm, maybe those art and composer ones would be good for an easy way to frame art and music appreciation. Posted by Diane Perin Hock. Sunday, April 3, 2011. At first, I envisioned that w...

Monday, April 25, 2011. The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted. You know how you have some friends whose recommendations of books or movies are always spot-on for you? You love what they love? Well, I've found that some authors are like that for me - and if they put a blurb on another author's book, chances are I'm going to like that book. So when Joshilyn Jackson. Whose novels I totally love, recommended " The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted. It's a beautiful and well-written book. Posted by Diane ...

Going to Pieces - Books and Reading: Wife 22
http://goingtopiecesbooks.blogspot.com/2014/10/wife-22.html
Friday, October 3, 2014. Maybe it was those extra five pounds I’d gained. Maybe it was because I was about to turn the same age my mother was when I lost her. Maybe it was because after almost twenty years of marriage my husband and I seemed to be running out of things to say to each other. And, just like that, I found myself answering questions.". Monday, January 21, 2013. I've loved Anna Quindlen's essay writing for a long time, but somehow I'd never read any of her novels. I picked up Rise and Shine. At the last library used-book sale, and read it over the last few days. And I loved it, absolutely loved it. I give it four stars out of five. Posted by Diane Perin Hock. Sunday, January 13, 2013.
