About the RSDT family website
http://rsdt.org/about_the_rsdt_site.html
This site is a journal of our time in Cyprus, from the first stressful months in late 1997 when we first moved here, until the present date. I began the site, using records from letters I had written and notes I'd kept, back in about 2000 on the Geocities servers. We registered the RSDT domain using the initials of our first names. My name is Sue. I come from Birmingham, in the UK, and my Myers-Briggs type is INFJ. Then worked for some years as a programmer for Severn-Trent water authority. I became a pa...

Canon cameras: caveat emptor | Notes from underground

Namibia and Botswana holiday, May 2013. UK Holiday May 2005. يارب يسوع المسيح ابن الل ه الحي إرحمني أنا الخاطئ. Canon cameras: caveat emptor. As we are planning to go on holiday on Monday, and thought we might see some scenery and meet some people we had not met before, I counted my pennies and thought I could just afford a better camera, and so bought a Canon 1200d. Canon 1200d Camera — would not format memory card. Update: Third time lucky. Today (Sunday 16 August) we returned the second dud camera to ...

RSDT family newsletter index page
http://www.rsdt.org//newsletters/newsletter-overview.html
There are a lot of pages on this site, with lengthy descriptions of what we did, what we learned, where we went, and so on, since moving to Cyprus. If you would prefer an overview of our life here, you could peruse our newsletters instead, which were sent out to family and friends every Christmas and (in the first couple of years) also in Summer. The links below take you to online copies of them all. More about the family and work in general. Our first grandson, two new kittens, Tim in a flat. Still in t...

Moving to Cyprus
http://www.rsdt.org/moving_cyprus.html
For more details, see the Cyprus government FAQ page. Buying property is possible, although you need written permission to do so; however this is generally granted without problems. Some people buy land and then have a house built to their specificiations; this may be the most inexpensive and satisfying solution, but be prepared for a long wait, since time schedules in Cyprus can be more Middle Eastern than European! We came to Cyprus in October 1997 for two years. and are still here after sixteen.

Home Educating in Cyprus. Beginning home education, fairly formally. Summary of what we achieved so far, conclusions to date. Good intentions with an intensive timetable. feelings of burnout. Relaxed the timetable somewhat, found out about UK home education. Much more informal education, although Tim wanted some structure. End of the first year, and decision to continue home educating. A new relaxed structure for the first fortnight, then time off. Increased flexibility, with minimal structure. Worries a...

Thought crime | Notes from underground

Namibia and Botswana holiday, May 2013. UK Holiday May 2005. يارب يسوع المسيح ابن الل ه الحي إرحمني أنا الخاطئ. Back in the bad old days of apartheid we had all sorts of repressive laws in South Africa. There was detention without trial, a long list of banned books and films and laws restricting press freedom. The democracies of the world, including the UK, rightly criticised us for these things, and eventually we repented and abandoned them and opted for a free society. Just seen on the. It reminds me o...

Namibia and Botswana holiday, May 2013. UK Holiday May 2005. يارب يسوع المسيح ابن الل ه الحي إرحمني أنا الخاطئ. UK Holiday May 2005. In May 2005 Val and I set off on a holiday trip to the UK. We didn’t blog about it as we went along, because we did not always have internet access, so this is written after the event. One post that we did have at the time was this one on Ancestral Places. Wastwater, Cumbria, 10 May 2005. Here, then are the links to the posts. 1 May 2005: Easter. Leaving on a jet plane.
