Chimney Rock State Park. October 1, 2014. October 1, 2014. Chimney Rock State Park is about twenty miles from Asheville, North Carolina. It cost $15 for adults, $7 for children and it is free for children under the age of 4. The park is open year round and only closes for major holidays. September 26, 2014. Last weekend I went to Buffalo Mountain for the first time. Having been a student at ETSU for almost three years, I am surprised it took me this long to visit Buffalo Mountain. If you are looking for a quiet place to hike without having to go very far, I would definitely recommend Buffalo Mountain. It is easy to get to, has several trails and is just 5 minutes from ETSU.
