Starting to . Tri. (all over again). A long march starts from the very first step." . 2014 .back to the beginning. Thursday, November 27, 2014. I have a new iPad. So I have been trying out a couple of apps for note taking. Basically I would love Penultimate to work as nicely as Noteshelf. Here is a page from Noteshelf! Posted by Karen Gallantry. Saturday, November 01, 2014. No Longer a Battery Human. It took me a good few weeks to get into the routine I readily admit it was a complete shock to the system.

Bureaucracy in the Mirror. Occasional reflections and rantings on the nature of bureaucracies, stovepipes, large organizations, big government and the social networks that make them work. Saturday, February 26, 2011. A Rallying Cry (3). From a recent speech, Secretary Gates observes:. The tendence of any big bureaucracy is to revert to business as usual at the first opportunity. Starting to .... Tri... (all over again)....: Juneathon Day 10 & 11

Starting to . Tri. (all over again). A long march starts from the very first step." . 2014 .back to the beginning. Thursday, June 11, 2015. Juneathon Day 10 and 11. Loosely I will claim some toe yoga, about 5 Sun salutations (abridged version) and some general buttock clenching at appropriate (rather then inappropriate) moments. So Juneathon Day 11 was 6 10 bike sessions and 6 run sessions (50mins total). With transitions it ended up 2hrs. So with that good night and happy damn nearly friday! A Better Wa...

http://leanlaboratory.blogspot.com/2010/12/lean-coach-vs-technical-supervisor.html
The diary of a lean process. Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Lean Coach vs Technical Supervisor. I was talking with a CFO from a Midwestern hospital today about transforming supervisors into Lean coaches. Dave Krebs (http:/ www.leanhealthcareexchange.com/? When I worked at Allina Health System in Minnesota, we had technical consultants that filled the technical supervisor role and then we had Site Managers that were in charge of hiring/firing, evaluating, and scheduling the staff. In this environment, ...

Lean Laboratory: Is the Answer Right There in Front of You?
http://leanlaboratory.blogspot.com/2009/10/is-answer-right-there-in-front-of-you.html
The diary of a lean process. Monday, October 12, 2009. Is the Answer Right There in Front of You? A couple of weeks ago, I was looking at our workload data and noticed that 47% of our stat testing was coming from our attached nursing home. This seemed like an oxymoron to me. How could nearly half of our requests for stat testing be coming from a long term care unit that should not have patients with acute illness issues? Posted by Nancy and DogThunder. Lean in the Aerospace Industry: Hoshin Kanri in the lean business
http://www.aerospacelean.com/2014/01/hoshin-kanri-in-lean-business.html
Hoshin Kanri in the lean business. I've recently been helping an Aerospace site build the Hoshin Kanri tool into their business strategy. When we first started I hadn't used Hoshin Kanri a lot so I decided to do some reading. My co-workers had recommended a couple books but I found these really useful (both available from Amazon). The Hoshin Kanri Memory Jogger by Joseph Colletti. It has memory jogger in the title but this book provides quite a good overview of Hoshin Kanri. Well-illustrated. From the an...

Lean in the Aerospace Industry: December 2012
http://www.aerospacelean.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Why FIFOs fail in Aerospace.Part 1. I was teaching a Lean Fundamentals class recently and I was on the topic of FIFO lanes. An employee raised her hand and said “We’ve had a lot of FIFO lanes here in the past but they never work. The signs are still up all over the place but they aren’t real FIFOs. Do you know why this happens? 8221; Wow, I thought, what a great question. Single FIFO used when Multiple FIFO made more sense. Lack of adherence to the standard work. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
