Life With Clay | A father's journal of the day-to-day journey with a son who has autism
A father's journal of the day-to-day journey with a son who has autism. Dilemma in a Vacuum. Posted by Larry Blumenthal. On January 19, 2015. A few months back our trusty Dyson vacuum finally gave out after many years of faithful service. We’ve had it fixed before, but this time the main handle cracked in half. No repairing that. We replaced it quickly with a new Hoover. When you have two dogs and what you might describe as a “highly active” son, vacuum cleaners are a survival tool. A Man Called Goots.

A Note of Explanation. View my complete profile. Sunday, January 11, 2009. A Note of Explanation. Most of life seems to involve bland routine. Get up, get to work, making work happen, come home, do what has to be done at home and then get some sleep. Repeat. Running in the background of all that is the question "Won't something great, wonderful, new or different just happen somewhere on this planet? Life with Club 21
Welcome to Club 21. Monday, March 21, 2011. I rushed him over to the cashier and asked if Tim had just stiffed him. No, that man over there payed for him" was his reply. I looked over at the gentleman he pointed out and when I offered to pay him back he declined my money with kind words telling me of his sister with Down syndrome, who lives in the Philippines, and how I should be grateful Tim could talk because his sister couldn't due to lack of services there in his country. Thank you in advance! We lov...

Life with"C Monkey"
Support for Mom and Dad. Friday, November 1, 2013. Epilepsy Awareness and why Im thankful. Did you know that Epilepsy Awareness month started on November 1st? I understand that it could always be worse. I've seen families on all ends of the spectrum. I'm more thankful for the little things. When C ate some goldfish crackers the other month (his first crunchy food since surgery), you would have thought he had just slam dunked on Lebron or discovered the solution to the deficit. I was THAT proud! But more ...

Life With Charcot-Marie-Tooth
Saturday, July 07, 2007. Handicap doors, a dance with the devil. To my relief, the large campus has not been a big problem, and one of my parents is always available if I need to be driven to one of the farther buildings (I don't drive yet, so they always pick me up). I'd been in similar situations before, and knew the steps to follow in handling it. Step #1: Take a moment and check yourself for severe injuries before proceeding the attempt to relocate and eventually get back up. Step #3: Formulate a plan.

Small Glimpses of a Big God
Small Glimpses of a Big God. Friday, April 17, 2015. He Takes Me Places I Can't Even Imagine. I can't even count the many times in life where I started a new job and thought "I could do this the rest of my life." Or the classes I took thinking that I was headed a certain direction. God is a God of surprises - and in time I found myself moving on to something else - often on a path I didn't even know existed. I have learned a few lessons along the way.
