Linda's Poems

Saturday, May 2, 2015. Challenges, grief, healing. Nana Freda used a light bulb when darning socks. She'd stick it inside so the hole was on the curve. Then she'd thread matching yarn into a fat needle,. You know that needle; it's the one that pricked you. So many times in the last year. First, drawing blood. When your best friend died, second when Bob, whom. You treated like a dad, passed, and the worst when that. Needle went right through your heart over and over. Into a strand of yarn? Sunday, April 26, 2015. Day 26 National Poetry Month 2015. Ripple, rustle, mist from Lucy. I'm sitting in a different chair this morning,. A bar chair high enough so my face is out. Of the sun. The wind from the southwest. Is creating rustles in the palms and ripples. On the water. I should go in and get. My big girl camera and use those sparkles. To catch some bokeh, those atmospheric. Background circles you can see on most. Television shows. So I do just that. I set. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Day 29 National Poetry Month 2015. Duckling, leaf, frog from Anne. Her American name is Jenny. But her Vietnamese name is "Nine.". I don't know how it's spelled. But it's pronounced with a lilt,. Like you're smiling when you say it. Not like how we say that number. With our frog voices. She tells me. It means Snow and I think that is. Beautiful. She's my nail tech. And she's marrying Jimmy who. Also works there. He's a sprite,. Flitting around, joking with everyone,. Day 30 Nat...

The extortionist | Speed of Sound

https://captainmolecule.wordpress.com/2009/03/21/the-extortionist

March 21, 2009 at 8:55 pm ( fiction. Is “I come from”, and I thought of using this to tell a story of an extortionist waiting for his mark in a red light area in Mumbai – a story that I’ve imagined a few times before. The morning had passed, in boredom complete,. And not a soul was seen, in that dirty street. In the corner café, as I sipped that burnt coffee,. Out came to seduce me, the famous Sophie. The whores were awake, washing the night’s filth away,. Not today, my darling, I’ve come on a mission,.

~Linda's Stuff: A Little Plane Ride

http://garlinjake.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-little-plane-ride.html

Saturday, August 2, 2014. A Little Plane Ride. A spot in a hangar opened up near our son's house so we flew the plane over to his place in NH, then he flew back to Maine with us, we went to lunch, then he flew the plane back. I snapped a bunch of pictures along the way. A pretty farm scene. Nay waiting for us on the side of the taxiway. And here is Nay's home across the pond from the airport. It's the second one from the left. Beautiful photos, so lush and green! Nathans house is on a gorgeous spot!

Picture Inspiration: March 2011

http://lindas365project.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 27, 2011. Okay, I know it's already almost April! I'm not doing a 365 project this year but I am participating in Picture Inspiration. It's a year-long online photography workshop. Once a week we get an email with a prompt. I thought I'd keep track of it on this blog. The first week we had to do a self portrait. I'm not very photogenic. And took about 50 pictures before I got a half decent one. For our fourth assignment, we had to take a picture of something stacked up. From top to bottom:.

Sunday, August 14, 2011. Week 24: Shooting for the Stars. Our Assignment this week was to look for star shapes in nature. I didn't do very well since I was distracted by health issues for my MIL and caretaking my FIL. But, I did see these stars:. Monday, August 8, 2011. Week 23: Organic Lines. I wasn't really sure what this meant. Tracey showed us a picture of where the ocean meets the sand and the line the foamy waves make. I never managed to do this one. We had to take a photo of our tribe.

Monday, May 30, 2011. Week 14: Bird's Eye View. I actually climbed up a tree to get this shot of the ocean of forget-me-nots in my friend Dottie's yard. Sunday, May 22, 2011. Week 13: From the Ground Up. We had to get down on the ground this week and take a picture from that perspective. I found this tulip with its pretty orange and yellow color on a walk with my Nature Journaling kids. I like how the base of the flower is like sunshine. Monday, May 16, 2011. This week we had to find something mysterious.

Linda's Reading Blog: June 2013

http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 27, 2013. Playing Catch Up, Again. I really wanted to like this book and at first I did but the further I got into it, the less and less I enjoyed it. It's reminiscent of Stephen King's writing but the main character just isn't lovable enough for me. That's as far as I got.maybe someday I'll finish it.maybe not. So, I needed something totally different and this fit the bill. I gulped it! How could I resist a book with this title? Peter Byerly is mourning the death of his young wife by secl...

Linda's Reading Blog: May 2013

http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 19, 2013. This was a quick read for the plane ride back to Maine for the summer. It made the flight zip by! Mike Scanlon is a doctor serving in Afghanistan when he gets news that his wife has died from an accidental fall in the kitchen. He returns home to try to make sense of his life. He has an eight-month old daughter to care for and questions about his wife's death and life. But, I still enjoyed the book and was happy to have it to keep me company on the plane ride. Linda's Reading Blog: The Lock Artist

http://lindasreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-lock-artist.html

Thursday, August 8, 2013. A friend gave me a book calendar and I can't tell you how many good books I've read that were recommended on it. This was one of them. We find out immediately that Michael is in jail, that he doesn't talk, and that something really awful happened to him when he was eight. He decides to write about his life and alternates between his early life and his life of crime. He has two gifts: he can unlock anything and he's a decent artist. He's also a decent person. To master your way.
