ct822: Ellis on UG
http://amberct822.blogspot.com/2008/04/ellis-on-ug.html
Wednesday, April 2, 2008. I was left very confused. I'm not sure whether Ellis favors the theory or not. Shouldn't a theory be written with the classroom teacher in mind? If not, what use does the theory have at all. What purpose does it serve if it can do nothing for the teachers that deal with the problems of Second Language Acquisition every day? I think the theory does stand strong as a theory but it is not practical, so can it be said that it is a good theory? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

ct822: Critical Period Hypothesis
http://amberct822.blogspot.com/2008/02/critical-period-hypothesis.html
Sunday, February 17, 2008. I think you're on to something with the "muscle memory" thing. Maybe it's like learning to throw a baseball or swing a golf club. If you start early it can become natural and graceful - but if you pick up the sports late in life - becoming effective is a little tougher - and rarely aesthetically pleasing. But that makes language less a cognitive domain and more of a . what? I don't wanna go down the primrose path of behaviorism, but. Maybe someone else can pick up on it. Muscle...

Some students hold back due to influences of native educational culture, affect. Regarding The advantages of blogs over Blackboard. Several of the graduate courses (at least 3) that I took req...

http://kaizer-sla.blogspot.com/2008/02/sla-blog2-6-8.html
Monday, February 11, 2008. I’d also like to encourage you to post comments. At this point they could relate to the ease or difficulty you find in posting a blog, or better yet the content of what you read. Last Week’s Lesson plans. Pair work: Explain to each other. Consider and discuss how the following variables affect critical period arguments regarding SLA. Explain equilibrium/ disequilibrium. Provide an example from your experience (rather than the book). Do you have bilingual pets? How does raising ...

Wednesday, February 27, 2008. March 2, 2008 at 2:22 PM. I agree with you and David. The motivations instigating the learning/acquiring of another language. I think that I would have taken Spanish more seriously had I needed it to communicate on a daily basis to basically survive (in school, job, etc.). March 4, 2008 at 2:48 PM. March 5, 2008 at 9:24 AM.
