Sugar, Salt, Straw. Life is sweet and salty, but drink it all up. Fourth “First Day of Work” in One Year (one hot mess link up). May 12, 2014. June 10, 2014. I’m in great company in this Link Up post because Geena. And Melanie linked to me! I’m grateful that the topic of the blog is One Hot Mess. That’s a category for which I can pull from an overflowing archive of days I thought I wouldn’t survive. In the usual just-my-luck fashion, yesterday afternoon I started to notice a tickle in my throat. Then...

This is my final week as an AmeriCorps member. Without getting too sappy I want to go over my favorite moments of this year, partly for my own nostalgia but also to recognize the amazing people and places that have meant so much throughout it all! Getting to know each other and the city by touring around with my community members. Splurging ...

Generous Joy | Love in Action

As part of my volunteer program, Amate House. The speaker was a priest, Fr. Richard Fragomeni, who spoke to us about Pope Francis’ first apostolic exhortation. This literally translates to “The Joy of the Gospel” and the central theme is living with joy as an outward sign of internal openness. Even if you aren’t Catholic, I think there is a lot to think about in the Pope’s lessons on joy and generosity. 1 There is a fundamental difference between happiness and joy. Posted in Amate House.
