The Triathalife: April 2013
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 25, 2013. Train Eat. Sleep. Repeat. Train Eat. Sleep. Repeat. Most would agree this is a sound recipe for improving your fitness as an athlete. Add in a dash of variety, family time, stretching, catching up with friends, relaxation and you've got the foundation for longevity and happiness as well. Parcel of training for a long distance event. But. Sleep is just as important for athletes. Having more energy helps you to engage in everyday activities - such as exercise (pretty important...

The Triathalife: Ironman Cairns 2013 - Race Report
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2013/06/ironman-cairns-2013-race-report.html
Friday, June 14, 2013. Ironman Cairns 2013 - Race Report. Ok, so this is not as cool (or short and sweet) as Canadian pro Trevor Wurtele's race reports. I think it took longer to make than the race itself took. Ha! Posted by Muddy Waters. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Cup of coffee in hand and a few spare minutes up your sleeve? Murray Man Long Course 2014. Josh Amberger's Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts. Moreton Bay Olympic Distance. SAN DIEGO TRIATHLON - A HAT TRICK OF WINS. 13/02/11 - 1st @ Bribie I...

The Triathalife: November 2013
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 6, 2013. My last triathlon was Ironman Cairns back in June. Granted I did bash my way around a Duathlon in August, but that had the noticeable absence of water and a swim. So leading into Noosa there were plenty of nerves and a distinct lack of racing-mojo. Who needs racing mojo in a place like Noosa though - a pair of board-shorts and a taste for coffee and ice-cream work just fine. EIGHT WEEKS LEADING INTO RACE. 20 hours of swimming (62.5km). 59 hours on the bike (1558km). There is ...

The Triathalife: October 2012

Friday, October 19, 2012. Race week in Kona. Reflecting back on the 'week that was' and I'm not too sure where to start . It was such an am azin g exper ience from the mo ment we landed in Kona and were thrown the keys to our hosts old red pick-up truck,. D the race itself! The whole week felt as if a triathlon magazine had exploded all over the street and come to life, so for me I felt lik e a kid in a candy store! Undie Run' (created to raise mo ney for local charities and to t ake the mickey out of tr...

The Triathalife: Helping your body survive Christmas: MacGyver Style
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2013/12/helping-your-body-survive-christmas.html
Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Helping your body survive Christmas: MacGyver Style. In any athletes training program it is important to include some fun. In amongst the specific sessions that often hurt, can be tiring physically and mentally wear you down. Remember fun? Riding your BMX for hours on end around the neighbourhood until it's dark and your mum calls you in for dinner? Running around the neighbourhood until you lungs hurt just because your a cowboy and you need to catch the Indians? 03/06/13 - ...

Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Day-dreaming and focused-attention: making your run feel good while enhancing performance. Trail running before sunrise, the Velobeats 'Chillout II' podcast playing in my ears and the cool spring air touching my skin. One of the nicer ways to start my day and sure to finish with a smile on my face. I feel good, that's for sure. But is this the best way to improve my performance while running? Getting briefly technical, the article identified the difference between association.

The Triathalife: September 2012
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 14, 2012. Some would say too much time on my hands. This is what happens in a good old fashion game of one-upmanship. It started with my dig at Adz. And then Adz' reply. Which I can't seem to load. Anyway, it left me no choice. Posted by Muddy Waters. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cup of coffee in hand and a few spare minutes up your sleeve? The Triathalife: The focused-relaxed athlete (and other oxymorons for athletes)
http://scott-thewhippet.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-focused-relaxed-athlete-and-other.html
Sunday, September 15, 2013. The focused-relaxed athlete (and other oxymorons for athletes). Local (easy for my family to come and watch, as well as just being a short drive up the road from home). New and novel (which is great for motivation). Half the distance of Cairns! My preparation was two fold. 1) Get a killer training program. TICK. 2) Reset the mind. TICK. Plus, the quality of my training had improved. That was the sound of my calf during one insignificantly-meaningful run. Out for 3 weeks wh...
