The instruments of ancient Mexico predate Spanish influence by thousands of years. Different indigenous peoples of Mexico used hand-held rattles made of gourdes, turtle shells,seed pods, and metals; a variety of drums, turtle shells, clay and reed flutes and whistles, shell and gourd trumpets, and rasps to name a few. We feature clay and bamboo flutes by Xavier Quijas Yxayotl. Mayan water drums by musician/instrument-builder Martin Espino. Rain sticks, ocean drums, etc.
