Strangers in an (often) strange land: who we are
http://strangersinmalawi.blogspot.com/p/who-we-are.html
Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. We're Devon and Charlotte, two landlocked sailors. We're currently living in Lilongwe, Malawi, working in agribusiness development and aquaculture research, respectively. Whenever we're not doing things related to our day jobs, we like to explore the surrounding areas and attempt adventure in a rather flat landscape. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Monday, 16 July 2012. Well, here it is, as promised. Welcome to one aspect of our attempt at staying in touch, whilst living almost exactly on the other side of the world from most of you lovely folk. What will we share in this medium? I jest. We'll likely try to do a bit of both, and manage to fit in something of interest to a few of you. The house scene here is not that dissimilar to that in Canada, except that no one r...

Strangers in an (often) strange land: September 2012
http://strangersinmalawi.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Tuesday, 25 September 2012. Somehow another three weeks have flown by since our last post.I'm not sure how. Since I last wrote of our late August escapades, we've been occupied with daily Lilongwe life, and the added joy of the visit of Ms. Katrina Cook, special delivery care of Richland, WA. Well, one of us did. Our poor friend Rachel had a bit more of an adventure than she had planned during the inaugural Kuti game ...

Strangers in an (often) strange land: mango season!
http://strangersinmalawi.blogspot.com/2012/11/mango-season.html
Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Wednesday, 21 November 2012. It's been a hectic month. Or two. Since our last submission (confession? I've started a new job, Devon's continued to take on more and more at his preexisting job, and we continue to dream up new adventures and ideas at every turn. Many of which we actually intend to do, which can make things rather, shall I say, awkward. More on this later. Basically, imagine a hotter, drier, flatter Baden Po...

Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Wednesday, 5 September 2012. And then there were three. There's something about Africa that draws folks in. Well, there's something about living on the other side of the world, no matter whether you're in Timbuktu. Yeah, yeah), or some ' stan. Tales of Life Abroad with your curious (and increasingly nervous) guest. Your new level of normal. Confused by that very same thing when you arrived. Oh, wait. Expat life is hard.

Strangers in an (often) strange land: work life
http://strangersinmalawi.blogspot.com/2013/02/work-life.html
Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Sunday, 3 February 2013. I haven't mentioned much about the 'what' of what I'm doing, and I heard some complaints to that regard whilst in Canada. My apologies. I think we both struggle with the dynamics of writing a travel blog while not really. Travelling, and the balance between a light anecdotal take on life versus falling into the trap of lengthy verbose prose that no one wants to read. Sunset from our house. Sounds ...
