Strangers in an (often) strange land: who we are

http://www.strangersinmalawi.blogspot.com/p/who-we-are.html

Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. We're Devon and Charlotte, two landlocked sailors. We're currently living in Lilongwe, Malawi, working in agribusiness development and aquaculture research, respectively. Whenever we're not doing things related to our day jobs, we like to explore the surrounding areas and attempt adventure in a rather flat landscape. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Strangers in an (often) strange land: work life

Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Sunday, 3 February 2013. I haven't mentioned much about the 'what' of what I'm doing, and I heard some complaints to that regard whilst in Canada. My apologies. I think we both struggle with the dynamics of writing a travel blog while not really. Travelling, and the balance between a light anecdotal take on life versus falling into the trap of lengthy verbose prose that no one wants to read. Sunset from our house. Sounds ...

Strangers in an (often) strange land. Devon and Charlotte take on southeast Africa. Wednesday, 21 November 2012. It's been a hectic month. Or two. Since our last submission (confession? I've started a new job, Devon's continued to take on more and more at his preexisting job, and we continue to dream up new adventures and ideas at every turn. Many of which we actually intend to do, which can make things rather, shall I say, awkward. More on this later. Basically, imagine a hotter, drier, flatter Baden Po...

http://whitneywinters.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

News from the Whitney crew home base in the Coast Mountains of B.C. Canada. Monday, May 26, 2014. We sailed less than 10NM south into Dublin Bay and tied up overnight at the Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Doon Leary) Marina. Interesting to note this is a huge marina inside an artificial harbour built over 100 years ago to provide a safe refuge for sailing ships that would otherwise get embayed in Dublin Bay (and go aground on the rocks). The project was massive, especially in those days. '. Latitude = 53&#176...

WHITNEY WINTERS: January 2014

http://whitneywinters.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

News from the Whitney crew home base in the Coast Mountains of B.C. Canada. Monday, January 27, 2014. January conditions in our ski resort have been rather warm and dry, except for a few stormy days mid-month which brought us about 70cm of fresh snow. Late afternoon on the slopes. Lack of snow not only limited our alpine skiing options, it also meant the cross-country trails did not open until we finally had snow in mid-January. Mariners like to say: red sky at night, sailors delight.

WHITNEY WINTERS: Winter is coming.....

http://whitneywinters.blogspot.com/2013/11/winter-is-coming.html

News from the Whitney crew home base in the Coast Mountains of B.C. Canada. Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Winter has not yet arrived in the valley but the ski runs are starting to look good, at least from our home deck. Frost formations on the glass around our deck. We have enjoyed a few frosty mornings, but only once shoveled the driveway in the month of November. We opted to stay home on opening day but went skiing a few days later. Look who we found our first day up. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Sach Kinaare Reh Gaya. I was discussing with Gurpreet on the current state of the management committees at various Gurudwara Sahibs all over the world, the way they fight and function. Strangers in Kenya

Tales from the Africa Murphys, missionaries and teachers. Friday, May 01, 2015. It’s somewhat fitting that “pitch black hide and seek” was the spontaneous game which kept us up long past bedtime on that dark, weekend evening in Kenya. God seems to be doing a lot of hiding from me these days. I lined up this litany of woe to illustrate how God has been hiding. Lots of suffering and lots of loneliness all around us, and not a lot of revelation or obvious purpose. Who wants to be un-sought? Jesus died. ...
