The chicken or the egg. And other biological matters. The weird ways of reptile reproduction. Two studies on reproduction in reptiles have made me go “wow, thats cool” this week. Firstly, the report of a boa constrictor giving birth to two litters of offspring without the need for a father. This sort of “virgin birth” is called parthenogenesis. This study was published online this week in Biology Letters. And the BBC news has more on the story here. The second study, published online in Nature this week.

This last year seems like such a blur, for various reasons. That thing called "life" happened, I blinked, and here I am. Now, 10 months ago time was crawling, my exhaustion had gotten the best of me, the 5-6 hours of screaming drove Michael and I nearly mad, and I honestly didn't think I would survive. Friends assured me "this too shall pass".
