Mud Mud Glorious Mud. Monday, 7 April 2014. Not much actual work to do on this working day. As I arrive at the Coe JK tells me that Lampwick has just gone in, not with a party, and I should easily catch him up. Sure enough I soon find him, walking slowly looking for the presence of bats. We continue along together - total bats seen = 0. Lampwick later tells me that rumour has it this hole was filled by Mr Chandler when engaged on an earlier dig of his own - but we will wait and see if it turns out blind.

In a change to our advertised programme (not going to Dunsley Springs after all, lacking suitable scaff bars - plus Lampwick went without me on Tuesday night with the Alts) it is decided that I will relearn how to change over on a rope, as I have not done any SRT since putting Lampwick out of action. Mud Mud Glorious Mud. Wednesday, 24 December 2014. Miner's candle at Groaning Tor. Despite not knowing any of the 'traditional' carols we are meant to sing, we take up A R's suggestion of a visit to Groaning Tor for t'owd man's candle. First to arrive at the Rat Cafe but we are soon joined by others - 9 of us trudge up the hill to the entrance. Dues paid we return down the hill for the promised beer and chip butties at the Barley Mow, where a further 3 less dedicated cavers join us. Good Luck PDMHS 2.

Paul keeps dispatching Paz to entertain me and the kid, I love having a personal geologist and I think I've learnt as much today as in any of my geology lessons all those years ago.
