Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Marathon, check

http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2011/11/marathon-check.html

Sunday, November 6, 2011. So, what was it like? What do I want to remember? I was just naturally speeding up. By 15km, my pace was coming in very comfortably at 5:20/km, and I was passing people quite steadily. I felt great. My breathing was easy, my legs were light. And that was when I became brave. I wasn't brave up until 15km. I was still running with anxiety and doubt- could I do it? Would I hit a wall? Well, I guess we did. Thanks, Hamilton. I won't forget this. It does kind of cap an amazin...Well ...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Run, run, as fast as you can

http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2013/11/run-run-as-fast-as-you-can.html

Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Run, run, as fast as you can. I meant to write after a particularly happy run about a week ago. As I trained myself back to a regular running routine, I gained appreciation for interval running. I noticed that by running, say, for five minutes and walking for one, I could use the five minute interval to push really hard and run really fast, then recover for the walking interval. I'd done my best, again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm mother of four, writer, dreamer, p...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: May 2014

http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 9, 2014. I've been wanting to run. I want to sign up for a marathon this fall - likely the Hamilton marathon in early November. And I'd like to do the Run for Toad, which I had to miss last year due to the concussion. I've opened the sign-up forms for both races, but haven't had the courage to sign up yet. I've been wanting to run. I ache. I'm tired. But I want to run. I think I run because it's the simplest hard thing I can give myself to do. It's the simplest challenge. I'm mother of four, ...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Day 299: Duathlon

http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2011/05/day-299-duathlon.html

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. So I finished that leg feeling great. I actually racked my bike just as Tricia was turning to run. But when I went to run, my legs felt like water. I felt like I was running atop a saddle or a diaper. My inner thighs seemed to have lost all strength. It was all I could do to put one leg in front of the other. I was so frustrated! In the end, my overall time was 1:39:18. Not bad! I was 194/454 entrants, and 6th in my age category. I am so impressed Carrie! See ya soon,. This is an i...

The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Hang on, what was the question again? The Dawn of a New Day. Asymp; 4 Comments. Stuff you should know. Do you ever put off things you are supposed to do? Procrastination is counterproductive, but you already know that. The question is why do we do it? There are some complex reason why people procrastinate; I found a very good article in Psychology Today titled “Ten Things to Know”. I love me some Josh and Chuck! I have also learned that how you. The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Hang on, what was the question again? Asymp; Leave a comment. Focus on yourself exclusively for 10 minutes at the start of the day. Each morning, before you race off pleasing others, ask yourself What do I need to do to really. Sit with that for 10 minutes, and don’t let you mind skirt off to what do I have to do for my family or my boss? Take control of your obligations. And rein them in. Reach out and ask for help. Take at least THREE 15-minute breaks.

Toronto Scotiabank Half Marathon. Mt Kinabalu – Guest Post by BT. January 16, 2013. I promised to climb Mount Kinabalu last Christmas Eve on a whim for the same challenge that led AF to complete his triathalon. The two-day climb seemed doable, and the chance to visit Borneo while living in Malaysia was too good to pass up! We were up at 2am to reach the summit before sunrise, spoiled with a full moon and clear skies. This was lucky, as the climbers the day before described their summit experience in ...

The Obscure Camera Blog. Assorted ramblings about image making hardware. Exposure Meters in the Digital Age. Digital cameras are awesome. They have come so far in such a relatively short time, and I believe that they have overtaken film for quality. The push for resolution has improved lenses out of sight, and dynamic range is pushing boundaries too. Nonsense, of course. The automation trap is easy to beat – use an exposure meter.
