Challenge Roth | Philosopher's Run
https://philosophersrun.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/challenge-roth
July 9, 2012. Katja Schumacher Relay Teams – All Set to Go! I’ve had two busy weeks with work, training, and visitors since my last race, and my last post. With so many things happening all at once, my blogging time has had to take a back seat, but I should have some more time to get posts up in the next week (including the report on our Berlin trip promised in my last post). Swim (3.8kms) – 1:09:17. Bike (180kms – me) – 5:46:30. Run (42.195 kms) – 3:40:48. In Hilpoltstein – visit him if you can! Once of...

Newer posts →. June 24, 2012. After a break from racing of a few weeks, this morning I competed in my second triathlon of the season (and my life), this time in Kaiserslautern. In the beautiful Pfälzer Wald. The race, the Tri-Pfalz. Now, before I get to my results today, I’d like first to congratulate my friend KRB in Canada for completing her first triathlon last weekend. In which she posted some great personal times (even in some pretty sweltering weather)! Age Category Place: 14. Which had a lot of tu...

Homeward We Bound →. August 6, 2012. With all this keeping me busy, something had to break, and it was the blogging. But here I am back with a report on my race last Sunday. My training hadn’t been particularly good in the two weeks leading up to the race, as I’d been ill and wasn’t out on the bike as much as I would have liked, but I was nonetheless feeling pretty good as the weekend of the race arrived. As the swim was about to start, KT got this photo from the Heidelberg Old Bridge:. With the swim ove...

Mt Kinabalu – Guest Post by BT →. Toronto Scotiabank Half Marathon. January 16, 2013. I was feeling pretty psyched to go with about two minutes to go, when something remarkable happened: the pre-race announcer informed everyone that Doug Ford (Toronto councilor and brother of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford: both less than supportive of active transportation) had come to watch the beginning of the race, at which point boos resounded throughout the start corrals. With that, and a laugh, we were off. After the race...

Monthly Archives: September 2012. September 29, 2012. Long ago (in blogging time: i.e. three months), I promised a post on the trip KT, NP, and I took to Berlin. Due to various time constraints, I kept putting this off, but I’m now finally getting to it, better … Continue reading →. September 17, 2012. Mt Kinabalu – Guest Post by BT. The Dawn of a New Day | fortytwothings

The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Hang on, what was the question again? The Dawn of a New Day. Asymp; 4 Comments. Stuff you should know. Do you ever put off things you are supposed to do? Procrastination is counterproductive, but you already know that. The question is why do we do it? There are some complex reason why people procrastinate; I found a very good article in Psychology Today titled “Ten Things to Know”. I love me some Josh and Chuck! I have also learned that how you. Now I sho...

The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Hang on, what was the question again? Asymp; Leave a comment. Last week Nikolai and Margaret went to Science Quest Day. Camp all week. This is run by our fabulous friend and neighbour, Caity. Niko was in Main Frame computer programming camp and Margaret was in Storm Chaser camp. Little did we know that within 2 hours of coming home we were going to see a real storm in action! The passenger side is dented. We had dinner by candle light and were very gratef...

The answer to life, the universe, and everything. Hang on, what was the question again? Asymp; Leave a comment. Focus on yourself exclusively for 10 minutes at the start of the day. Each morning, before you race off pleasing others, ask yourself What do I need to do to really. Sit with that for 10 minutes, and don’t let you mind skirt off to what do I have to do for my family or my boss? Take control of your obligations. And rein them in. Reach out and ask for help. Take at least THREE 15-minute breaks.

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Overdone
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2013/04/overdone.html
Wednesday, April 24, 2013. I am a mess of aches this morning. Good grief! I'm wondering whether that fast week of running was due to NOT playing soccer the previous weekend. So it could be that soccer is wrecking my running. But I'm not going to stop playing soccer. I find it funny how quickly I can go from feeling strong and quick and in excellent shape, to feeling quite the opposite, achy, old, limping, slow. Oooh, I feel like that often when it comes to running! I hope your ankle feels better soon!

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Day of the Toad
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2011/10/day-of-toad.html
Saturday, October 1, 2011. Day of the Toad. Running a race is kind of like giving birth (though much easier, it must be stressed). It's a very intense experience the details of which quickly fade from memory, so I'd like to get the happy moments of this race recorded right now, while it's still fresh (which is what I always did after my births, too). I got up at 6:20 and was off before 7, and on site before 8. It was so cold! Is it the breathing? People got really friendly toward the end. (Though ano...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Day 299: Duathlon
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2011/05/day-299-duathlon.html
Tuesday, May 24, 2011. So I finished that leg feeling great. I actually racked my bike just as Tricia was turning to run. But when I went to run, my legs felt like water. I felt like I was running atop a saddle or a diaper. My inner thighs seemed to have lost all strength. It was all I could do to put one leg in front of the other. I was so frustrated! In the end, my overall time was 1:39:18. Not bad! I was 194/454 entrants, and 6th in my age category. I am so impressed Carrie! See ya soon,. This is an i...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: August 2013
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 9, 2013. Summer of intense effort. Because the trail ended there, that's why! It's been cold both weeks, with the temp in the pool hovering around 68 degrees F and the air temp around 18-19 degrees C. No sun. Rain a few days. Cloud cover. Fun! By the end of the hour I'm shivering uncontrollably and my teeth are chattering - in the pool, while swimming! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Day 254: Half-Marathon
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2011/04/day-254-half-marathon.html
Saturday, April 9, 2011. I did it. You know, I'm not sure if there's a mental checklist I've been working from, some set of goals that has propelled me onward, but a year ago it never occurred to me that it would be possible to complete a half-marathon. Even a 10k race sounded ridiculously daunting. How could anyone run that far? The answer, I've learned, is patience and training. The training will get you there, and it won't seem all that far anymore. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm mother of fo...

Swim, mama! Bike, mama! Run, mama!: Am I still a runner?
http://obscurecanlitmamago.blogspot.com/2015/03/am-i-still-runner.html
Thursday, March 26, 2015. Am I still a runner? I'd been steadily improving, and seeing a chiro, doing an hour's worth of physio/strength exercises every day (seriously! Well, there is a slight improvement- the pain seems to be relegated to the hamstring and not to the tendon at the top of the leg. I've run twice this week, both very slowly, agonizingly slowly, and with pain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Races, Season Two. Races, Season One. Philosopher's Run | Amateur triathlon training.
Mt Kinabalu – Guest Post by BT. January 16, 2013. I promised to climb Mount Kinabalu last Christmas Eve on a whim for the same challenge that led AF to complete his triathalon. The two-day climb seemed doable, and the chance to visit Borneo while living in Malaysia was too good to pass up! We were up at 2am to reach the summit before sunrise, spoiled with a full moon and clear skies. This was lucky, as the climbers the day before described their summit experience in the rain and sub-zero temperatures...

This blog is dedicated to chronicling the embarassing cooking attempts of veganne and jennilicious. We are amateurs in every way and completely lack sophistication, proper tools, or any formal culinary know-how. We share a love for cooking and scaring our parents with our strange hippy tendencies. What do philosophers do? Is that even a job? Lol… Philosophers share ideas. Philosophers influence thoughts. Philosophers speak…. December 23, 2016. Thoughts of an African Male Feminist. Silence permeates this space. Love does not live in this place. A voiceless vacuum where souls find solace. Those who exist here are of a different race. Sealed lips and pensive minds. That would rather just run in the winds. Hearts constantly being robbed of their light. Thoughts and emotions only found in quiet.

The first book by Gina De Roma, was inspired by the author's own transformative experience with gratitude and food. Some years ago, Gina found herself thirty pounds overweight. Dieting wasn't working; in fact, with each attempt, she seemed to be slowly gaining more. In. She revealed how the practice of giving thanks every day transformed her relationship with food, her body and the world around her. Gina's second book,.
