The Department of Occult Investigation: Fatal Inheritance: Chapter Three
https://occultinvestigation.blogspot.com/2013/08/fatal-inheritance-chapter-three.html
Friday, 30 August 2013. Fatal Inheritance: Chapter Three. There was a bell pull. Liz tugged it then took a step back and looked the place up and down. Delgado Manor perched on a wind-gouged peak that loomed like a golem over the North Yorkshire village of Hangerton. She wished she could say the house looked more appealing up close than it had in its photo but, if anything, it looked even worse. A few yards to her left stood a flagless pole, a green sports car and a battered old Ford. The handyman-cum-por...
The Department of Occult Investigation: Send Me Your Horror - Sample.
https://occultinvestigation.blogspot.com/2013/08/send-me-your-horror-sample.html
Friday, 23 August 2013. Send Me Your Horror - Sample. End Me Your Horror. Is from my short story collection Adventures By Moonlight. In it, a self-declared master of horror makes a bargain - and soon gets more than he bargained for. SEND ME YOUR HORROR. A feast for a king. I took the meal upstairs, eagerly anticipating the outcome of my efforts, then crossed the landing to the spare room, which had been made ready. My hands being full, I toe-poked the door open then entered. The room was in near-darkness...

https://occultinvestigation.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 8 December 2012. Don't Make Me Shoot You, Santa! Ere it is, my determined effort to do a Slade-like cash-in of Christmas and achieve festive earnings forever. Don't Make Me Shoot You, Santa. Tells the story of what happens when the nation's official occult investigator Liz Sanford comes up against her least likely foe yet. Can she get to the bottom of a mystery that should never be? And can she save Christmas for us all? Don't Make Me Shoot You, Santa. DON'T MAKE ME SHOOT YOU, SANTA! It certain...
The Department of Occult Investigation: July 2013
https://occultinvestigation.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 7 July 2013. I Need An Earth Girl! T's, "Grab your spaceship," time as I finally launch myself into outer space with I Need An Earth Girl. The novella that makes Dr Who. Look like a TV show. Petra 97 was created to rule a planet but was never going to settle for just that. Simultaneously exiled from two worlds, she seeks to forge a new life for herself as a space adventurer - and promptly blunders into a scheme so destructive it defies sanity. I NEED AN EARTH GIRL! But now she saw something.
The Department of Occult Investigation: Fatal Inheritance: Chapter Seven.
https://occultinvestigation.blogspot.com/2013/09/fatal-inheritance-chapter-seven.html
Sunday, 8 September 2013. Fatal Inheritance: Chapter Seven. Liz woke with a start. She was in Delgado Manor. She was in bed. And she was alive. Being alive didn't bother her. Whatever its travails, it was still better than the alternative and, at the risk of being presumptuous, she'd expected - one way or another - to still be with us come daybreak. That wasn't the issue. She climbed out of bed and checked the windows. No sign that anything had tried to get in through them. It was Mrs Hobson. Wordles...

Steve Does Sheffield: March 2014
http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Friday, 28 March 2014. Lees Hall, Gleadless. Pond near the site of Lees Hall Farm -. CC BY-SA 2.0. Having done that, they then bulldozed the rubble into the house's duck pond, in order to completely remove all signs that any such thing had ever existed. This is of course one of the great architectural scandals of Sheffield and would never be allowed today. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe To This Blog. I inflicted...

Steve Does Sheffield: October 2013
http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Tuesday, 22 October 2013. Re-used under this Creative Commons License. When it was announced in the late 1980s that they were going to do up and re-open the Lyceum Theatre, I thought it was madness. What a squalid and appalling looking building it was, surely fit only for demolition. I must admit that my entire experience of having been inside the Lyceum is of attending a version of Dick Whittington. And you know what? Links to this post.

In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Thursday, 21 November 2013. Photo by Matthew Hatton [ CC-BY-SA-2.0. Some things in life seem designed to make you feel old. Don Valley Stadium is one of them. Since then, various things that were built in my childhood have fallen by the wayside but now, as though to rub it in, they're demolishing things that were built in my mid-twenties. What kind of madness is this? Links to this post. Labels: Don Valley Stadium. Subscribe To This Blog.

Steve Does Sheffield: Castle Market.
http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2013/12/CastleMarketSheffield.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Monday, 2 December 2013. And licensed for reuse under this Creative Commons Licence. In a tragedy for all lovers of rampantly lunatic architecture, Sheffield's Castle Market was closed down last week, to be replaced by a spanking new indoor market at the bottom of the Moor. From comments on various sites, it seems few'll miss it. But I certainly will. I'll miss it for three reasons. Likewise with its oddly labyrinthine interior that left ...

Steve Does Sheffield: King Edward VII School.
http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2014/02/king-edward-vii-school.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Sunday, 2 February 2014. King Edward VII School. Photo by Wikityke at en.wikipedia [ GFDL. There are times when it seems like every single famous person from Sheffield went to the same school as each other. And that school is King Edward VII. Who seems to be permanently pregnant, went there. Of course, that impression's completely false - as I. Admittedly, being so visible might make some feel it would serve poorly as a, "Secret," headqua...

Steve Does Sheffield: January 2014
http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Friday, 31 January 2014. Mappin Art Gallery and City Museum, Weston Park. Photo by Oosoom at en.wikipedia (Transferred from en.wikipedia). The museum first opened in 1875 and was totally refurbished between 2003 and 2006. It attracts 250,000 visitors a year. The art gallery was closed in the 1950s and 1960s, having been hit by a bomb and partially demolished during the war. Dinosaurs aren't just ugly, they can also be a major letdown.

In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Sunday, 1 September 2013. St Paul's Tower, Arundel Gate. And licensed for reuse under this Creative Commons Licence. Because you the reader demanded it! It started out as the Conran Tower. Then it was, "City Lofts." Then it was St Paul's Tower. But, whatever you call it, you can't ignore it. At thirty two storeys, stuck atop a hill overlooking the railway station, it's Sheffield's tallest and most visible building. A quick Google for imag...

http://stevedoessheffield.blogspot.com/2013/08/banners-department-store-attercliffe.html
In which our hero posts photos of interest to him in his own city. Thursday, 29 August 2013. Banner's department store, Attercliffe. By Warofdreams (Own work) [ CC-BY-SA-3.0. When I was growing up, I knew nothing of the existence of Banner's department store. For that matter, I knew nothing of Attercliffe itself. My only knowledge of the area was that it existed and, despite its name, it didn't have a cliff. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Subscribe To This Blog. This Week's Most Popular Posts. I inf...
Steve Does Dr Who: The Power of Three. Review.
http://stevedoesdrwho.blogspot.com/2012/09/DrWhoPowerOfThree.html
Saturday, 22 September 2012. The Power of Three. Review. S a hip-swivelling king of Rock and Roll, I know there's nothing ruins a party more than a bunch of squares. But what about a bunch of cubes? That's what the Doctor has to work out as the world wakes one morning to find a zillion and one of the things lying around in the streets. It's pretty obvious right from the start that this is an attempt to do another, "At home with the Doctor," story along the lines of The Lodger. On the guest star front, St...

What is this place? 8220;Ghost” Caught on CCTV in old UK pub. February 25, 2014. So apparently there’s been a ghost caught on CCTV in one of the oldest pubs in the UK. I think the “ghost” in the video looks like it could just be some kind of reflection caused by what looks to be a lightning flash outside of the pub – but who knows? I’d be interested to hear what others think of this. To go to the news article containing the video. An update… finally. January 15, 2014. August 1, 2011. Apparently the 5 poi...

Wednesday, 13 April 2016. Keep Those Things Away From Me - Novel. T's finally here, my senses-shattering fourth novel. The third to feature that all-too gorgeous mad scientist Teena Rama, and the second to feature that all-too useless whipping boy Danny Yates. Teena Rama's determined to get married. Danny Yates is determined to stop her. It can only lead to a series of events that endanger the survival of the whole human race. One chest's battle with bureaucracy. One man's battle with mirrors.
