http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2013/06/whats-fruiting.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Sunday, 2 June 2013. The strawberries have come on leaps and bounds in the last week or so. all of a sudden the plants have shot up; this was a couple of weeks ago. And this is today. I also spotted a tiny cucumber or two making an appearance; these ones are passandra. I've got a good feeling about this season. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I decided to create this blog to track my progress and share with everyone how I am getting on. Hope you enjoy reading.

Produce By Paula: January 2012
http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Monday, 2 January 2012. New Year, New Plan. So, 2012. year of the London Olympics and time for a new sowing schedule. This year I will be expanding my beetroot selection to include chioggia and burpees golden and also a new lettuce, webb's wonderful. I have also come to the conclusion that I do not have enough space to grow as many brassicas as I would like, so this year I am trying some smaller varieties; cauliflower (fremont), broccoli (matsuri) and cabbage (caraflex).

Produce By Paula: February 2012
http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Sunday, 26 February 2012. Whole lotta sowing going on. Sowing for the 2012 season has finally begun; a little bit later than originally planned, now that I think (hope) there won't be any more harsh frost. Everything is in the potting shed with the tender stuff in unheated propagators, so fingers crossed it all germinates. I have sown:. 40 chillies; 6 varieties (hungarian hot wax, rokita, orange wonder, aji crystal, cayenne, unknown from a mexican restaurant). Ill definite...

Produce By Paula: Ready, Steady, Sow
http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2015/03/ready-steady-sow.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Sunday, 1 March 2015. Ready, Steady, Sow. My 2015 season has finally begun, I've never made it to March before without sowing anything so today I brushed away numerous cobwebs in the potting shed and got on with it, just managing to beat the rain. might not look like much now, but in a few weeks these little pots of black compost will be sprouting a fine selection of seedlings (hopefully). Will need to get sowing the next batch soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Produce By Paula: December 2012
http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Monday, 31 December 2012. End of Year Review. So, here it is. my end of year review. First things first, lets get the disappointments out of the way:. Beetroot - what on earth happened there? Brassicas - the less said about these the better; I'm not even going to detail them separately as absolutely nothing grew. Broad beans - my first proper attempt was devastated by blackfly. Herbs - failed to germinate. end of story. That's enough of that, now onto the good stuff. 163;1...

My journey to self-sufficiency. Saturday, 18 May 2013. Where on earth have I been? It's been ages. not posted since January; so far this year it's been a slow process but hopefully things are looking up with the weather and it shouldn't take too long to catch up. So, what's doing well? I have a fine selection (if a bit slug and snail munched! Of courgette, pumpkin and squash in the greenhouse; some of the larger ones should be ready for planting out soon. Produce By Paula: Let's get this sow(ing) on the road!
http://producebypaula.blogspot.com/2013/01/lets-get-this-sowing-on-road.html
My journey to self-sufficiency. Sunday, 27 January 2013. Let's get this sow(ing) on the road! It's been quite a nice weekend, apart from the torrential wind and rain overnight on Saturday (when I wouldn't have been doing much gardening anyway! So, got started with a bit of sowing; 3 each of moneymaker, gardener's delight, red cherry, green zebra and cream sausage, along with some mustard and cress which surprisingly I have never grown before. My journey to self-sufficiency. Sunday, 2 June 2013. Well, it's been go go go for the past couple of weekends in the garden. I finally feel like I have regained some type of order; the raised beds around the back have been weeded and are now planted up or sown with a variety of produce. Around the front, the first sowings of carrots and beetroot are coming along nicely (in spite of next door's cat thinking the raised beds are there for his benefit!
