http://streamsidetales.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Stories from along the waters. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. 2 1/2 Days of Christmas. 2 ½ Days of Christmas. I was left to fend for myself again this year for Christmas so why not go fishing? He put up a good battle and I succeeded in getting a good size brown trout to the bank. I fished till it got dark without another bite. At the van I changed clothes and it was nice to get some warmth in my body from the heated van. Donny said the day before Christmas there was a warm spell and the fishing was great&...

http://streamsidetales.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Stories from along the waters. Friday, September 12, 2014. Meanwhile on Tionesta Creek. Meanwhile on Tionesta Creek. My Woolly Bugger tried the riffling current. The first hook up was quick and hard. There was no easement in the quick current to guide my catch. The trout surfaced and the force of the surface current was too much as the hook found its way loose from the lip. The trout disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. The next trout took the Bugger as I stripped it in towards me. He flashed a...

http://streamsidetales.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Stories from along the waters. Monday, October 13, 2014. It doesn’t get much better! There is nothing that comes close to early steelhead fishing. The fresh, wild, exuberant steelhead that makes the run into a trout size creek each year is one heck of an experience to be hold. Just to see them staging in semi-deep holes, along shallow ledges or in a tumbling riffle gets me excited. To hook into one is an experience you don’t often find in a fresh water creek. One on a Woolly Bugger. One on a streamer.

~StreamSide Tales~: Mystic Waters
http://streamsidetales.blogspot.com/2015/06/mystic-waters.html
Stories from along the waters. Saturday, June 27, 2015. This outing had a little more ’mystery’ to it than other times I have fished it. Before I head down to the creek I look around through the forest and notice that the Laurel hasn’t fully bloomed yet this morning. The creek is tea stained as usual. They claim it is from the bogs of large amounts of sphagnum moss that grow around the lake and causes this unique color to the water. I decided to drive down creek and found myself alone at one of the deepe...

Stories from along the waters. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. April 25th, 26th, 2015. I met my friend Jeff on the North Fork of Redbank Creek Saturday morning. We caught a couple trout but the bait fishermen were doing a lot better with the fresh stocked fish. We decided to go over and fish Tionesta Creek in the afternoon and also on Sunday. Here are a few of the pictures of the scenic Tionesta Creek, trout and bald eagle I happen to get photos of. A couple brook trout. Bald Eagle at Mayburg. I headed down cre...

Stories from along the waters. Friday, July 24, 2015. T-Glass and Wild Trout. T-Glass and Wild Trout. I never felt I had a need for a 2 weight fly rod. Sometimes I think a 2 weight is just something that would be fun to use but do I really need one just to say I own one and used one? I mean, how many times will I really use it? I wasn’t sure what the action of the rod was going to feel like, either glass or graphite. I was kind of anxious to find out though. Getting into the faster riffles I felt the sma...

Stories from along the waters. Monday, July 13, 2015. Sun Dolphin Journey 10 SS Kayak review. Sun Dolphin Journey 10 SS Kayak Review. I read reviews on different models and found most reviews were first time buyers and first time in a kayak. Though the reviews were helpful for a new comer I turned to friends that have been kayaking for a while for some experience advice. Other than that everything else with the kayak was standard. 2 A side pocket for small to medium sized fly boxes on each side. Well, he...

Stories from along the waters. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Fresh Steelhead and Chunky Browns (part 1). Fresh Steelhead and Chunky Browns (Part 1). It was a chilly morning, maybe 35 degrees at tops. It wasn’t a summer picnic! The water was lightly cloudy so no fish were visible but the water was up for ideal conditions for those who like fishing in slightly stained water. I on the other hand? Tomorrow was another day. I figured the water should clear up more though the depth should stay pretty much t...

Stories from along the waters. Saturday, July 5, 2014. Unprepared on the Clarion River. Unprepared on the Clarion River. Along with these I tied up some Clouser patterns also. I don’t use Clousers as often than I probably should in the river but I splurged for some painted barbell eyes and decided to give the tying a try on my own. I didn’t think they came out too bad. With a few crawfish patterns and Hellgrammite pattern I was ready for some smallies. This got my confidence up for sure. I continued ...
