Beginnings | Postcards From California
https://postcardsfromcalifornia.wordpress.com/beginnings
Skip to primary content. California has been called a state of mind. My parents moved to California in 1954, driving a Nash sedan and hauling all their belongings and their three children in a U-Haul trailer (the kids actually rode in the car). We first settled in southern California and later moved further north. I’ve lived in many areas of the State and it is only recently that I have begun to consider myself a California Girl. The Grinning Sheep Blog by Kathy of Briarwood Folk Art: Hooking, hooking wherefore art thou?
http://thegrinningsheep.blogspot.com/2014/12/hooking-hooking-wherefore-art-thou.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. Hooking, hooking wherefore art thou? This fun picture of Daisy on a rug in progress was sent to me by Lori in New York. It pretty much sums up my relationship with hooking lately: it's still close to my heart but I haven't felt motivated to be creative and I'd rather just lie around. What a gift I had all these years and will continue to have in my memories of her. Posted by The Grinning Sheep. Can You See Me? Follow the Sheep by Email. Click on Izzy Mae for my website! The Grinning Sheep Blog by Kathy of Briarwood Folk Art: A Wilted Yellow Rose
http://thegrinningsheep.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-wilted-yellow-rose.html
Thursday, February 12, 2015. A Wilted Yellow Rose. Oh, so sad, so very sad to report the reality that the Yellow Rose Rug Camp held in Belton TX appears to be a total goner. This is a real loss for a camp that was a great success from 2008 until this year. Just two days ago I received an email from one of my students asking why she hadn't heard from me to discuss her project with camp only a few weeks away? On to a POSITIVE note from Texas:. Charlotte from TX sent me this picture of her completed "Puttin...

Postcards from Camp
An on-line view of my journey to the war in Iraq. Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Has It Really Been A Year? Over a year since my last post? Wowthat's bad. REALLY bad. Here's the express version: I returned from Iraq safe and relatively sound in late June 2008, took about a month off and then went back to work. Since then, the main excitements in my life have been a couple of Penn State home games, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers win the Super Bowl (sorry, neighbors! Saturday, February 2, 2008. Postcards from a Camp Counselor
Postcards from a Camp Counselor. July 28, 2015. July 28, 2015. I knew leading 72 campers and 17 counselors (77 campers and 19 counselors fourth session) would be an adventure. We are the biggest, baddest tribe you’ve ever met to quote ourselves. I had no clue all the things I would discover this summer. I didn’t realize how much I would learn, stretch and grow. But isn’t that one of the best parts of life? 8211; Bell’s Palsy does not. 8211; A six percent chance of thunderstorms is. You may be cranky!

Postcards from Canvey Island
Postcards from Canvey Island. These pages are a sketchbook of ideas and research from my wanderings on Canvey Island whilst artist in residence at Cornelius Vermuyden School. Working in the Studio. Work on the large Canvey Island map started in May. I have been working in the studio since then stitching the piece mostly by hand. The marshlands around the edges of the island create beautiful lacey patterns. I am now working on the seed stitched area of Chapman Sands which is a slow task. I was very intrig...
