Week 12 Blog – Sex (colour preferences between genders). | Victoria♡

https://psue71.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/week-12-blog-sex-colour-preferences-between-genders

My Psychological Blog :). Week 12 Blog – Sex (colour preferences between genders). 1 Is the title of the journal article accurate given the study design and findings? Are the explanations of the findings justified, given the study design and findings and why? 2 What conclusions did the news report and headline imply? In comparison to the journal article, as to wether or not the news article is as accurate, of course it is not, as its intended audience differs massively from the former. Why or why not?

My Psychological Blog :). Structured Interview Vs questionnaire. 8 thoughts on “ Structured Interview Vs questionnaire. December 5, 2011 at 3:38 pm. You mention the weaknesses of both approaches, but what about their strengths? Structured interviews and questionnaires are used heavily in psychological research as tools for gathering data. Surely they must have a number of positive points for them to be such popular tools? December 9, 2011 at 5:11 pm. December 5, 2011 at 7:04 pm. As I said in another comm...

My Psychological Blog :). So, this week I’m talking about seasonal affective disorder, And basically, the point I want to get across is how much impact on this common disorder in terms of treatment, research has had. If you don’t know, is a disorder that, basically, in lay-mans terms, induces depressed symptoms during winter months. However, the disorder does not just produce Depression symptoms, it also invokes Anxiety and other Psychological malfunctions. 5 thoughts on “ SAD. February 5, 2012 at 4:17 pm.

It must be love. | Victoria♡

https://psue71.wordpress.com/2011/10/21/it-must-be-love

My Psychological Blog :). It must be love. This weeks blog is about research into love . It was Harlow that first looked into one of the strongest emotions humans can feel, and he applied it to Monkeys. Im sure most of you will have heard of Harlows monkeys. If you havn’t? Let me explain to you now what he did. Was the study ethical? So what did his research tell us about love? But what research has been done specifically in humans? According to his theory, which he then based his questionnaires on, love...

Are ethics standing in the way of progress? | bluenose1884

https://bluenose1884.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/are-ethics-standing-in-the-way-of-progress

Just another WordPress.com site. Are ethics standing in the way of progress? Would be considered unethical but it has taught us a lot about how power can be abused and how authority can go to someone’s head. It taught us how we should be more careful who we recruit to be our prison officers, police officers, teachers or any person who is employed in a position were they hold power over others. We are a morally richer society for having allowed these experiments to take place. October 16, 2011 at 5:37 pm.

Just another WordPress.com site. The difficulty of defining mentally ill and the blurry lines between normal and abnormal. Or when it seriously hinders their day to day lives? Or should people be labelled as ill for not conforming to societies stereotypical view of the healthy individual? I know this has turned into a rambling rant but its my first time! Just another WordPress.com site. Argument for sitting on the fence (I know I shouldn’t). One of the most influential figures in psychology is undoubtedly Freud. Could Freud be considered scientific? While his work has since become the foundation which many others have built upon and his influence is beyond doubt, most of his theories are purely speculative. They make a lot of sense, yes. But can they be proven? 8220;I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance.” – Socrates. October 8, 2011 at 2:56 pm.

Sampling Techniques | tsheath

https://tsheath.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/sampling-techniques

Just another WordPress.com site. When researchers conduct research they are usually unable to make direct observation of the whole population which they are studying. To overcome this researchers collect date from a subset of individuals otherwise known as a sample. The observations from these samples are then used to make inferences about the population. However, there are weaknesses within this type of sampling as the sample will be inevitably biased. This is due to the sample being drawn from a sm...

Just another WordPress.com site. Curiosity, praise, aggressiveness and humour: the man riding a unicycle has seen them all! April 20, 2012. The last blog entry for this academic year is going to explore the experiences of a man riding a unicycle and discuss whether they could be considered as a scientific observation. To conclude, observations, such as those conducted by Shuster (2012), appear to be unscientific in their very nature. However, it could be argued that if their findings could be applied...

December 18, 2013 · 12:47 am. Motivation theory applied to Blogging. Indeed, the self-determination theory proposes that autonomy influences levels of intrinsic motivation. When individuals perceive their behaviour as self-directed and self-determined, they are more likely to cherish the behaviour regardless of its consequences (DeCharms, 1968). Just another WordPress.com site. March 25, 2014. Mercedes Benz. Best Ad overall? This ad is very well done. It is genuinely one of the best ones I’ve seen so far. We see a little boy who sneaks out of his house on a mission. Walking through the city in the dead of night with nothing but a backpack, map, flashlight and his teddybear. Immediately the viewer is intrigued because what could that little boy possibly want in the city worth ditching his parents for? There is only 2 mentions of the actual brand ...

December 8, 2013. The assignment set for PNP-3002 was designed to increase intrinsic motivation by allowing students to choose their blog topic from anything that interests them within the field of emotion and motivation. Studies have shown that intrinsic motivation increases performance in relation to people who are only externally motivated (Lepper, Corpus, Iyengar, 2005). I encountered two problems with this method of assessment and its relation to motivation. November 28, 2013. Conversion disorder is...

Celebrity endorsement in advertising is seen very often in modern marketing, but this is not a new trend. More specifically, evidence from Kilburn in 1998 suggests that in Japan, celebrity endorsement was so common back then that 70% of the commercials included it. More recent evidence also indicates that within the past decade this strategy has been used a lot ( White, Goddard, and Wilbur, 2009. Another reason...

December 18, 2013. The ability to choose our own blog topics enabled us to demonstrate our own individual interests-permitting demonstration of our knowledge and value about the topic, in turn, it initiated situational interest due to the environmental setting (Hidi and Renninger, 2006). By focusing on topics of interest, it enabled students to become ‘proactive learners’ (Knowles, 1975) as they were able to apply factors that they find engaging to them to the module syllabus/content.
