Still Raising The Next Generation: December 2011
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Saturday, 31 December 2011. What have I learned? One thing I am going to internalize and take with me into the coming year is the success of last night. Despite my having done nothing in terms of shopping or food prep, last night's dinner party was still a wonderful success. The main course. Conversation flowed even faster than the wine, and before we knew it the Mixed Bean Enchiladas smothered in cheesy natural yoghurt were sizzling on the table. My only input into pre...

Still Raising The Next Generation: Spook Fest
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012/11/spook-fest.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Friday, 2 November 2012. A couple of years ago we attended a Forestry Commission Halloween event which left the children traumatised and since then have reverted to our usual DIY celebrations. However, this year I just really didn't have what it takes to oragnise a party so I made very careful enquiries about local events and finally found one which I felt would fit in with our family fun ethos of Halloween. Bones pertruding from flower beds. Icky spiders hanging about.

Still Raising The Next Generation: August 2012
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Monday, 27 August 2012. Beautiful book recommended by a beautiful mama. Once I became fully immersed in it I was deeply touched and connected; a sort of modern day adult fairy tale with some very poignant moments. Cheery, sunny, flowers (weeds some may say), with jerusalem artichokes shooting up the back. Must remember to split the tubers come autumn and pass some on to friends who have recently got allotments - we can all be windy together! Welly toss - can you spot it?

Still Raising The Next Generation: November 2011
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Wednesday, 30 November 2011. The children played happily around the woodland and the affectionately known 'Gruffalo Bridge' today. That is till Miles managed to somehow wedge his knee between the rails. What a carry on! Talk began of one parent running for help and to try to get a saw to cut the wooden rail, but all of a sudden, he was free! One wonderful mama wiggled his trousers and it somehow just released his knee. It was amazing. Such a relief! Since it was blowing...

Still Raising The Next Generation: March 2012
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Saturday, 31 March 2012. It may just be that my emotions are running incredibly close to the surface right now, but this book, The Language of Flowers. Has made me cry on more than one occasion this last week. It's a thought provoking read and I suspect my views of flowers will be altered by Victoria's dictionary. I'd hope to find Passiflora (faith), Sweetpea (delicate pleasures), Baby's Breath (ever lasting love) and Angelica (inspiration) in there. What an absolute tr...

Still Raising The Next Generation: November 2012
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Sunday, 11 November 2012. When my wonderful husband took me out to dinner on Friday night, my equally wonderful daughter made a lavender salt hand scrub, which dare I say is probably more appetising than the lavender cordial I made! I picked up this patch work wool bag for a pound at a car boot sale on Saturday morning. It's stuffed to bursting with wool I'm using to make a mini throw for my ' was to be a cracket. Moment some time in the coming week. I've been thinking ...

Still Raising The Next Generation: Sparkly fun
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012/11/sparkly-fun.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Saturday, 3 November 2012. Hermione made a firework cake this morning while I pottered and generally cleared up the aftermath of copious black and orange tinsel which the children wound round every door handle in the house for Halloween. Later we met with friends and Miles decorated cup cakes. I take my hat off to the amazingly chilled mama who allowed children to run a mock with a tub of Betty Crocker's icing and pots of sprinkles in her carpeted lounge! LIVING CRAFTS ...

Still Raising The Next Generation: April 2012
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Monday, 30 April 2012. Making me smile today. 1 Sneaky day time blogging while Hermione is out with a friend and Miles is busy watching a quiz show with Nana. 2 My new stick on blackboard. I have no excuses for being disorganized now that I can chalk the contents of my head onto the fridge door! Over night, and she's much brighter today. 5 Men at work. Sunday, 29 April 2012. To scratch or not to scratch. So, what’s the problem? I’ve made a break through today; if ...

Still Raising The Next Generation: October 2012
http://stillraisingthenextgeneration.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Still Raising The Next Generation. Wednesday, 31 October 2012. Story of The Little Leaf. I wanted to help Miles learn about why the leaves fall. I looked for stories online and found a few but none were quite as I wanted. Below is one I found but then mashed up, added bits , deleted bits and completely changed in parts. Once upon a time a little leaf was heard to sigh and cry, as leaves often do when a gentle wind is about. A nearby twig said, "What’s the matter, little leaf? You are our food factory....
