What I Forgot to Write…. Kirk made a wrong turn…but it wasn’t a wrong turn after all, because we were going to Tasi, a place we’ve been wanting to try for awhile. Food again, mostly. In other news, Kirk’s dad is out of the hospital today after having open heart surgery. He’s doing well, but will have a few months of recovery, including therapy. We’re very thankful, of course, that everything went well. Did I mention that we made our first pumpkin pancakes of the season this morning? We did. Pumpkin pancake season is now open. Tonight we grilled steak, sauteed mushrooms in butter, wine, and garlic, fried butternut squash in butter, and made grilled pesto bruschetta (inspiration from Renee). And had apple dumplings and ice cream for dessert. Oh, I almost forgot my last minute addition to the meal: homemade fries! Now Let’s Think This Through…. Do I want to go to the park today? First, I have to pack a lunch. Then I have to pack up the diaper bag. Then I have to wake Sofia up early from her nap. Then I have to load up both girls in the car. Soon after we get to the park, I will have to feed Sofia. Then it will be time for lunch, and I’ll have a wiggly almost-3-year-old to convince it’s time to not play and eat, at least a little bit. Then I will feed solids to Sofia. She takes a long time. I might be grouchy.

So, we drove the 25 hours straight through and arrived to find four very excited (and cute) nieces waiting for us. And a sister! Spending time with Robyn and Daryl and the girls was the highlight of the trip, but we did do other fun things too. I must add that Nova Scotia is very, very pretty. We saw some outstanding scenery! Please Be Gentle, Monday. So far Monday’s not complying with my request. Although we did wake up to snow falling, which made me happy! I think I’ll have to bake some Christmas cookies of some sort today. Mayah’s been in a terrible mood the past couple of days, although she has little moments of sweetness here and there.
