Running for Rhinos

Describing the progress training to run the London Marathon 2009 to raise money for Save the Rhino International. Tuesday, 3 November 2009. So long, and thanks for all the fish . So, next half marathon was scheduled for November 8th - the Grand Union Canal half marathon near Watford. What's been happening? It's true though that a lot of my runs were cut short - whether through struggling with heat or the usual mental demons that cause me to take shortcuts home. Running for Rhinos: February 2009

Describing the progress training to run the London Marathon 2009 to raise money for Save the Rhino International. Saturday, 28 February 2009. New* - follow me on Twitter - http:/ www.twitter.com/kusasi. She also advised me to do interval training - on the shorter runs, to vary the pace more, stepping it up a little for short stints, so as to increase stamina and help run at the slow pace on the day. I've mapped out a brand new 10 mile route so as to avoid the monotony of three loops round a loop I now kn...

Running for Rhinos: Slow and steady

http://runningforrhinos.blogspot.com/2009/07/slow-and-steady.html

Describing the progress training to run the London Marathon 2009 to raise money for Save the Rhino International. Thursday, 9 July 2009. Still struggling - yesterday's run was all about making sure I had at least one chance to run this week, and making sure I didn't either fail or hate it. Wish these weren't my struggles so close to a half marathon but I have to be realistic. Completing a marathon is good enough anyway, isn't it? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Describing the progress training to run the London Marathon 2009 to raise money for Save the Rhino International. Sunday, 26 July 2009. NSPCC Milton Keynes Half Marathon. So, the time has arrived and the preparations continue to be disastrous. To cut a long story short I've completely lost my application pack, so travelled to the venue early in the hope of being able to enter on the day. That's not actually true but I just wanted to make that joke). And I finished, in 2 hrs 29 minutes. My fastest mil...

Describing the progress training to run the London Marathon 2009 to raise money for Save the Rhino International. Sunday, 30 November 2008. End of week 17. Well - I'm back on track, I've nailed it. 30 minutes again, and a smidge faster than I've done before, therfore I've run a smidge further than before. Maybe that's what I should do from now on - state what I will do on the blog beforehand, then do it! An hour on Wednesday perhaps? Don't you love technology? Week 17 so far has been a Wednesday run and ...

Sunday, 19 September 2010. Day 99 - Sunday 19th September: Great South Oxfordshire Run. Run: 13.21 miles. Time: 1 hour 56 minutes 45 seconds. Today's schedule called for an easy (or was it comfortable? As per usual, however, my legs have other ideas, and I whizz through the next mile in 8m40s. Surely this is too fast? What will the weather be like in the far North of Scotland in October? I guess I'll find out in a fortnight. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Running 13.1 miles in memory of Carl. I star...

Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Day 101 - Tuesday 21st September: Orangey day. Half an hour later, and she washed my hair again to reveal. a light orangey colour. Not quite the vibrant lifeboat shade I was hoping for, but still enough to make me stand out a bit to aid my fundraising along for the next week. Then next Wednesday I'm back there again to have the colour topped up, and next time she's going to get a darker, more crazy colour! Inside and out body therapy. Ouch, ouch ouch! Monday, 27 September 2010. Day 107 - Monday 27th September: Milton Half Hour. Run: 3.33 miles. Time: 29 minutes 18 seconds. A third run day in a row. All these rest days towards the end of the marathon training feel very odd, having got into the habit of running so much. I guess it was all new to me when I did it for London, but this time round it's a struggle to not be running at least every other day. Didn't feel up to it. Maybe I'll go tomorrow instead. Sunday, 26 September 2010. Day 106 - Sunday 26th September: Charney 9. Run: 9.02 miles. Time: 1 hour 18 minutes 29 seconds. I forgot to say that yesterday's couple of miles meant that I've notched up 1900 miles since I began running almost three years ago. That milestone comes next weekend. Tuesday, 28 September 2010. Day 108 - Tuesday 28th September: Swim. I delayed my Monday swim because of yesterday's unpleasantness at the dentist, and chose to do a simple 40 lengths this evening. Although it wasn't long before I wanted to up this to 50! The other swimmer eases past me as she does her fast length, but is waiting at the end getting some more tips from her coach. I touch the end, and kick off again back for my seventh. Round about length 35 I lose count. Was that 36? Did I miss out 34?

I RUN, THEREFORE, I AM

I RUN, THEREFORE, I AM. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. I would like to preface this post with an important disclaimer - I did not pay for this bottle, I actually won it at a Girls on the Run Coaches Appreciation Event. But I wanted to share about it because I love it! Here's the bottle. Very simple looking. One downside - it only holds 22 ounces of water, which means you have to refill it on a frequent basis. The neat thing about this bottle is that it has a filter! The water tastes great from the Gobie bottle!
