Running the 2009 London Marathon. Ben’s mission to run a bloody long way. April 27, 2009. More photos from the big day. Still on a high today. Yesterday was such an awesome experience. My muscles feel ok. I’m still walking! There were a lot of stories in today’s papers. I read that over 6,000 people were treated for some form of heat stroke or cramping. Knew it was hard going in parts! Also got my official results, I got 8,726th overall. Not bad in a field of over 36,000! Below – series of me about...

Running The London Marathon. My journey from unfit to running the London Marathon! Running The London Marathon. November 18th, 2011 Author: Chris. So, with just over 5 months to go until the 2012 Virgin London Marathon on 22nd April 2012 I thought I would create this website to track my journey from being a pretty unfit bloke to, hopefully, running the London Marathon. I will post my marathon training schedules and how i’m doing against them with a running total (pardon the pun! I know there are plenty o...

Monday, October 16, 2006. You are the drugs. Things I've learned lately. Being sober means you can hang out with drunk people and realize what an asshole you usually look like. Spend your time with people who are nice to you. Don't be mean to other people, especially if they like it. There's a reason certain people have been your best friend for 6 years, even if you ocassionally forget it. Being bitter is boring. Don't make excuses for other people just because you love them. Some songs never get old.

Thursday, June 16, 2011. SOAP journal - part 2. Today I read 1 Samuel chapters 1-6. So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the LORD; let him do what is good in his eyes.”. Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the faith you have in me to overcome these difficult times. Please continue to hold me in your hands and give me the serenity to feel your peace in my life when times get difficult. Amen. These are the ones I found helpful. What did this verse say to you? Friday, July 19, 2013. Least Effort Architecture and the LEA-Principle. Sometimes, when I try to visualize data flows within an IT landscape I end up with something that has a surprising similarity with the cabling often found under desks of IT professionals. In both cases you might end up asking yourself:. How could you end up with something as messy as this? Before I try to answer this question let me give you a little tale based on a true story. How things ended up. In the same year the IT department ...

Race Report: Brighton Marathon. I signed up for this one last year after experiencing ‘race envy’ of other people’s sunny seaside marathon photos. I fancied having a go at a big city marathon (knowing I’m never likely to get into London) and having a stab at getting a quicker time. I adjusted my expectations from ‘achieve PB’ to ‘just finish without dying’ and felt better about the whole thing. The start was pretty well organised (though some people had obviously managed to get into the wrong corrals)...
NO PAIN/NO GAIN
Monday, September 21, 2009. Sorry about complete lack of updates. Sadly I got injured :(. I've started playing field football on Sundays. First week I tweaked my knee and ankle (both right leg) so I took it easy at home for 6 days. Returned to football the following Sunday. Now, Im only about 5'8 or 5'9 so I've stopped playing in goal for field football (but continue to do so in futsal). Our keeper turned up late so I played the first half in goal (keeping a clean sheet in the process! Of weight on it.

Tuesday, April 2, 2013. A Level Playing Field. There seems to be an on-going debate on the fairness of competition when you have foreigners competing in the event. To be honest, I do have two sets of thoughts in this. 1. We need to look into some of the nation top runners perspective. 2. In the context of competition, an event bringing in the best runners around the world would be great to improve the country's sporting standards. This is what I got from Wikipedia. A level playing field. Just a facts of ...
